Another interview in Italy via telephone. Noel says he would love to do the James Bond theme tune or write music for some pornographic movie and that his new album will be out next May

Was about the same between the first and Chasing Yesterday. Oct 11 to Feb 15 is less than 3.5 years. This is 5.5 years - way longer. I see you were smoking behind the bike sheds instead of doing your maths lessons Jessica. X

Anyone know why Noel is doing so many Italian radio interviews? Isn't this like his 3rd in a week? What's the deal, is that where he's most popular in Europe outside of the UK?

The E.P's from a few years back were supposed to be indication of a new album but again that never happened. So frustrating, they have played loads of new tracks over the years but most stuff remains unreleased. They seem to only use their position of being in a band to comment on political / global issues these days. Which is fine, but it's a shame that a group as talented as that don't bother with new music anymore.

I'm italian and I was wondering why he did that. Oasis are very popular here but it sounded a bit strange even to me. He also had a little space (30 sec video) in the main TV news.

I'm italian and I was wondering why he did that. Oasis are very popular here but it sounded a bit strange even to me. He also had a little space (30 sec video) in the main TV news. I know why. I have a rare Italian book on Oasis in which it is explained. In the 90s a special promotion circuit was created for Oasis in Italy as a matter of "luck". There are some Italians who work in the media who decided with the managers of Oasis to "treat" the promotion of Oasis in Italy in the same way as Italian artists. After the dissolution of Oasis Noel kept that special "contract" with Italy for himself. Today in Italy all that is NGHFB is managed with the old promotional contracts reserved for Oasis. Liam, on the other hand, is managed according to a normal "standard" promotional agreement. The new releases of the HFB are also advertised in the news and enjoy special promotions. Despite this, however, Liam in Italy still managed to place his vinyl records at number 1 in the Italian charts and is well known and loved by the Italian public. Having said that, I am sure that the cancellation of Knebworth 22 in Italy in cinemas is due to a management error in the promotion of the Gallaghers. The docufilm should have been distributed in Italy by the same company that released "Oasis Knebworth 1996" in cinemas. Then they probably realized that not being Oasis / NGHFB material it couldn't be handled as they originally thought. And for this reason they canceled it. Noel has put many obstacles to Liam's solo career but luckily Liam still manages to be successful in Italy and currently the audience at his concerts is much more numerous than Noel's ... Despite not enjoying "special" promotional contracts.

There's often talk about them recording, but for whatever reason they mustn't be happy with the general quality of work, or they can't agree on it possibly. Maybe 3D doesn't like to retread on past glories, so perfectly great songs are not released because they don't add anything 'new' to their legacy. Off topic but this is one of my favourite songs of theirs, and it's locked away during the end credits of a film:

Mad that they only included the dub remix on the Mezzanine reissue and not the original too. I also love I Against I which was frittered away on a b-side when much worse songs made it onto the 100th Window album. X

Noel was 27 when DM came out and was nearly 33 by the time SOTSOG came out. Not that youthful. X Egads, 27! It’s a wonder he was able to hold his guitar at the same time as his walker (or do you call it a Zimmer in UK?)
Truly, whether you're 21 or 27 when you start (barely a difference in those ages in males that I've known!), there tends to be a great initial surge of creative energy for artists/songwriters/novelists/filmmakers and then the process slows down after a couple decades (for many assorted reasons, including not wanting to repeat yourself, having a family, thinking differently about how you work, etc. It's not the same reasons for everyone but the timing is pretty consistent across the board). Can you name any songwriters who became more prolific after age 50 or after 25 years of writing? It’s a pretty short list. Dylan produced some of the greatest albums of all time in a flurry between 1963 and 1966. But in the 90s, when he was Noel’s age, he was going 3-5 years between albums.
Just sayin…it’s pretty common no matter who you are. Quality aside, quantity descends. Don't mean to break your heart, Virginia.
In rock ‘n’ roll terms, Noel was definitely a late starting fogey. McCartney was 27 when the Beatles *split*. Dylan had released 8 albums by that age. Hendrix, Morrison & Cobain all had entire careers and had died by then… X

But also, Alex Kapranos is older than Liam and Franz Ferdinand released their debut album in 2004 and were young, promising band 😁 While Liam in 2004 was already old rock star 😁 So, I think that is more about how long you are in business than how old you are. The longer you are popular, the harder is to deal with everything and make great records again and again in short period of time.
