Hi all, I’m not sure if this is in the right section to ask this question, please do move it if it is. (apologies in advance if it isn’t)
I have been wondering, how do you all store your bootleg collections? Do you do this digitally, physically or some other way? I ask because I want to download and store a collection where I can listen to gigs as a I please and access these for years to come.
I hope you all can lend me some advice, many thanks in advance, Reubenwhitee

The best would be to store them digitally, then you can upload / listen etc at a click of a button
Because I'm old school all my gigs are on discs, I have 2 DJ cases that hold a 1000 CDs in each My way makes it harder to share stuff etc as I have to rip everything again

I would transfer all to cd but have heard that over time the CDs lose data/decay. Not sure if this is true, don’t want to lose all of the gigs after the hard work of transferring them this way. Do you know if there’s any truth in this or if this has happened to you?

In sunlight or something I've had some of these CDs nearly 25 years, they still work.

Digitally.
I also name it by the city they played at and add (Night) in brackets
So for example the Manchester 2005 gigs, i did it as Manchester 2005 (Night 1), (Night 2) (Night 3)
I also use artwork for EVERY album on my iTunes. If it doesn't have artwork then it doesn't go in.

Is there a specific site/equipment that works best for this. iTunes isn’t a bad idea but am I right in thinking this takes a lot of storage on my laptop (this is used for schoolwork that takes a lot of storage already)

I use iTunes and Foobar 2000. Foobar 2000 adds the tags from the text file and can convert from FLAC to MP3 and you can choose to add the artwork in too.

I'm old school as well. When I started to collect Oasis bootlegs 18 years ago, I burned them to discs and printed artwork. I need to update my bootleg list on excel sheet. As I don't even have so much spaces in my house to store all those discs, so I save them in my extern hard drive and burn a few gigs which I really want to listen to.

Hope you don’t mind me asking, is there a template you use for the bootleg artwork you print off mimmi? Also using an excel sheet is serious dedication! Oh and finally (I know a lot of questions I’m sorry) have any of your CDs stopped working or are they still functioning well?

Digital as well. I have everything on external HDD's.
If there's one thing I have learned in the years since I collect bootlegs: Make back up's! (one of my HDD crashed last year and I lost 2 TB of FLACs... )

I used to print out all those brilliant artwork by Reevis (they used to be on this forum), Marcos and other members. Nothing special, just print out with my home printer. My burned CD's are still working after all those years.

Any recommendations on what external drive I should purchase?

Any recommendations on what external drive I should purchase? Indeed, I still see it as a disaster and didn't got everything back that was lost (got back about 60% now, downloads, trades). If you want/can pay a bit more, choose for a SSD instead of a HDD. More expensive, but less risk of a crash. More info: www.pcmag.com/news/ssd-vs-hdd-whats-the-difference

I still buy certain bootlegs on cd and sometimes vinyl. But I download a lot off a site called Tubidy which is excellent as you can download in either MP4 or MP3 and all concerts are straight off YouTube. I just download in MP4 and then save them all on SD cards. However, I now use YouTube music rather than Amazon music which is better and you can also add live gigs to your playlist.

My bootlegs are in a HHDD but as a CD/vinyl fan i really want to burn all of them on CDs with a nice artwork. The result must be nice to see in a room! But it takes a lot of time. And from 1995/1996, all the gigs are too long for a single CD and you need double CDs cases (you can make a data disc though)

I used to skip a few classes when Oasis was live on the radio, so I could go back home and listen. No internet on the phone back then haha. I've lost all of my artworks, except for a few U2 ones.
