I didn’t listen yet but I like the Holden hat Hahaha. Somehow I'm guessing that Salinger was not his inspiration ... and yet, it is his badge of nonconformity all the same

Here's an interesting stat: The Brits' Youtube channel has posted five of the live performances. Liam's is doing better than the newer acts (but not as well as Ed S.)
Ed S. 68K+84K (two videos) Liam 70K Dave 32K Little Simz 22K

Man he needs a ventilator after that song I enjoyed it ! surprisingly. sounded better live although the tune itself isn't the best, let's be honest. It's a song meant to be recorded and butchered in studio and performed lip synced with a dance routine, innit. But the performance was good enough for Liam these days. Doubt he can do a whole gig after that though. The band still sound like they are on Xanax. So baggy is back on fashion too ? He could have worn that in 96

Just watched/listened to it (kindly shared by The-Ghost-Dancer). I thought it was okay, same goes to the song. I don't need to analyse every detail. Bonehead and the ladies of backing vocals, never leave Liam. That hat is some………..choice. Remember that white trousers debate on here 17 years ago? Some things never change.

Absolutely Epic. Everything about it. Listening to it on headphones, I loved it right from the pre-recorded helicopter bit.
So many people on here are so fucking cynical.
I was blown away by that performance by LG

Yes it’s a matter of opinion, but for absolutely every non die hard fan this is unlistenable.. They’ve got to change the key

I didn't analyse it line-for-line microscopically, I just enjoyed it for what it is. I was also a little high which helped a bit 😁

Either way, I didn’t mind the hat.

And to steal one of Liam/Noel's standard lines here...but just stick some headphones on and turn it up loud!

Personally I’m pleased Liam isn’t dressing 2022, being nearly 50 and all that.

Well since Liam's audience is now mainly 15 to 25 year olds, i have to respectfully disagree. I dont mind that hat either, Liam always wore silly clothed. I mean, the coat from Finsbury 2002. Or the winter clothes in studio. Looks like he's about to go for a wild Canada trip

I guess it depends on the viewpoint of the writer. Well their view regarding the song its self is opinion, but the last paragraph in general is probably somewhat true Judging by the other artists performing at the Brit Awards, the target audience is probably late teens/early 20’s. So Liam playing at the brits in 2022 is probably the equivalent of Rod Stewart or somebody playing at the brits in 1995. I don’t think any young Oasis fans or Blur fans tuning in for their new idols in 1995 would be massively enthused to watch Rod Stewart playing a new song. I’ve not heard of half the performers last night, but I’m sure plenty of their fans probably see Liam in the same way young fans saw Rod Stewart in the 90’s. It is what it is, things and times move on.

Depends what you consider “on trend” - “On trend” in the mainstream and high street is usually about 2 years behind what’s “on trend” among fashionistas and “hipster” idiots. That’s always been the case. Many of those people would consider Billy Eyelash’s look to be old news already. Who cares anyway? It’s all nonsense. Liam is 50. He dresses well for his age and I think his slightly baggy clothes is a personal choice rather than following what people like Billy Eliish are doing. I think he knows at 50 he isn’t going to be wandering around in tight jeans with a gut spilling over the top on stage.

I have to say you are wrong about that, at least from my POV, I'm a contemporary of Liam and watched plenty of Grammy shows in the 90s (we couldn't get the Brits then in the States, at least not instantly) and even before that ... and everyone I knew was ecstatic to see the classic rock acts. They always put on a good show and they were legends to us, even if we were into the new music. Also, Andymorris is correct that a very big chunk of Liam's fanbase is now under 30. They want what they never had. They see him as the article said as a dilf as well as the last of the rock and roll stars, not as a bygone. For now at least.

Liams success is built in some part on his continuing connection to youth culture.
