My mates have come to see Oasis with me since Wembley 2000, but were never really into them. But since Liam's "comeback" they are proper into them / Liam like me now. Only took them 20 years

My great fried and his wife in Manchester. He's been a huge Oasis fan since 1995 and they came over to see Oasis, Liam and Noel a couple of times. My better half is a huge music lover, but never got into Gallaghers. However he had to be my company to watch Supersonic and Knebworth film.

Most of my mates love Oasis. Only 3 of us follow the solo careers though.

Perhaps, but if there's anything I've learned from traveling it's that there are shitty politics and awful cultural holdovers everywhere (UK and Europe most certainly not excepted) and also really great people in every country, bar none.

From the US and I've had a couple friends of a friend who were fans. I even had one drive me to town for a NGHFB show last minute in exchange for a ticket when I needed a ride and he didn't have the cash.

Yeah totally though i would say in europe we are far less approchable at first. Americans are very friendly from the start. Europeans be like « who the fuck are you » then maybe get to be friends. I guess this is because of smaller streets. Its very stressfull sometimes.

My girlfriend was a huge fan back when we met. These days still likes them but she rarely listens to them unless one of her favourites show on shuffle mode on Spotify (she's electric, whatever, d'yer wanna be a spaceman...) As for this forum, she asks "is there anything more to discuss about a band that broke up 12 years ago?"
My friends and one of my brothers were never really into it except for a few songs. But they're curious and they love hearing a good story about the Gallaghers.
My best friend is into other kind of music, he loves it when I play some Oasis but only shows a big interest on certain songs (Alive, Fuckin in the bushes, To be where there's life, Waiting for the rapture, Bring it on down...).

From Manchester. I honestly off the top of my head can’t think of anyone close to me who isn’t a fan.

My lifelong best friend is madferit. And most everyone else I consider to be a real friend think they’re a great band now, but didn’t know anything about them other than Wonderwall or CS before I played different tunes for them.

One mate is a casual fan but that's it, but nothing of note. Know a good few acquaintances who are former fans of the glory era but not of current Liam/Noel or even later day Oasis.
But as a 32 year old British Asian guy from London, no one in my circle is really into that type of music/that era.

From Manchester. I honestly off the top of my head can’t think of anyone close to me who isn’t a fan. You do tend to get a few Mancs who either think of themselves as too cool for Oasis, or resent the city being so closely associated with the band, in my experience. But yeah, 90% of the people have at least some level of real enjoyment for them.

Maybe about 5% who find it too cliched, given the Fab Four are even more synonymous with Liverpool than Oasis or any other Manc act are with Manchester.

I'm from Holland, where Oasis were never the coolest, so I always was a bit of an exception as an Oasis fan. That being said, I went with three different friends to shows of them, including my best mate, who comes closest to my fandom I guess. A fair few others appreciate some of their music, to be fair.

No one else, just me. No one else is really into music either so it makes my 25 year Oasis obsession seem rather unnatural.

But then you get the other 20% who either only listen to heavy rock or like every other Manchester band EXCEPT Oasis. Smiths, Roses, Joy Division, Mondays, Courteeners, Elbow, Chameleons, Charlatans, Inspirals, Doves are all good but woe betide anything by the Gallaghers. I'm an indie DJ by night (I do indie weddings and indie/90s themed parties) and I don't really like playing Oasis unless people ask for it. You never know what side of the side of the fence any given crowd are sitting on. Proper marmite band.

Nevermind being the only one who’s into a certain band or genre. The enthusiasm you get from it is wasted on those people.

During my uni years in the end of the 00s, I always cultivated some sort of outsider position for liking Oasis and similar bands, in contrast with house, rap, rnb and also indie pop, 80s rock and grunge. But in hindsight, I realise that there were few bands/artists that were more popular among my friends and acquaintances during that time. They were just not as big fans as I was Nowadays, I don't really meet new people that I discuss music with, but I have some friends who still like them. One friend who was a big fan in the 00s completely stopped listening to them and didn't even bother to listen to Liam's solo stuff yet.

In 2022 I continue to meet people who don't even know who Oasis are. I continue to be an alien where I live. My girlfriend only listens to them thanks to me (she's crazy about Everything's Electric now) but she's not a real fan, my dad who introduced me to them still listens to them (Her favorite Gallagher song is Once), and one of mine too friend listens to something only thanks to me, but even today there is not the slightest interest in them in the area where I live.
