I mean, none of those other teams played any games at home past the groupstages, while England will have played 3. That's quite a difference. A) It wasn’t an issue until England have done well. B) It’s never ever been an issue in competitions where there is a host nation. C) I’ve not heard any Italian, Danish or Spanish fans saying how unfair it was on other teams that they got to play their group stage games at home. And don’t even start with diving and simulation, which is a European disease that we had to learn to accept as part of the game of football. It’s not a European disease, I don’t know where this idea comes from. English players have been doing it for decades too.

We thought simulation was hilarious. Find me a clip of an Englishman doing this back then:

The “home” fixtures debate is one of the best/worst. All 4 semi-finalists played all their group games in their own country. England come through a semi-final and the issue becomes a problem for some characters. I mean, none of those other teams played any games at home past the groupstages, while England will have played 3. That's quite a difference. THIS

THIS See above 😉 Yeah at the end of the day it's no big deal. I would have changed the venues of the semifinals (maybe London and Amsterdam or Rome and Amsterdam, for example), as it was hailed as an "itinerant European cup", that's it. BTW I like the idea of an itinerant competition, but the way some teams had to travel a lot more than others is not fair. I would like to see a better organised itinerant European cup in the future, but the idea was discontinued.

FTR…There is no other nation I’d sooner play in a final than Gli Azzuri and if England weren’t in the final I’d be cheering Italy on.

I think it’s funny how the sympathy’s have changed over the last 72 hours. Most people I know would have wanted England to win the final, especially against Italy, but that sterling scene made everybody change their colors to blue even though Italy is even worse when it comes to diving. I think part of it are the obnoxious england fans on Twitter and Reddit. I personally just don’t want the meme to die, it’s funnier to watch these tournaments knowing that you’ll find a way to fuck it up. That's so incredibly silly to me. First, like you said they're playing Italy. And secondly, apparently(I don't recall this and haven't gone back to it) England should have had a penalty soon before the Sterling incident, and then I have no problem with diving at all. Two wrongs sometimes make a right, if you're wronged by the ref you can always use some cheating to make it even in my book. And sort of beyond the point, but it's ridiculous how brilliant Sterling has been, and this shit is what people will talk about. Yawn. Name one player who wouldn't try to get a dodgy penalty in a semifinal at home. That wasn’t a penalty on Harry Kane either. All these soft calls in a game of that magnitude, they just disrupt the whole game. In the wc Final 2010, Nigel de Jong should have gotten a red card after his kick against a Spanish player. Manuel neuer had at least a questionable tackle in the final against Argentina in 2014. I remember even more. But the refs decided to let the game play out without disrupting it. That’s the way it should be.

1995 I was 11 at Lansdowne road Dublin, England fans start a riot, game abandoned, I was called an IRA loving Fenian bastard by full grown men, 2005 england played northern Ireland in Belfast, windows of my house and car smashed by england (and northern Ireland) fans, again called an IRA loving Fenian bastard and told to fuck off back down to my Fenian hole in the republic, 2016 I was called a cheese eating french kunt in Marseille by england fans, when I told them that actually I'm not French I'm Irish, I'm back to being a Fenian bastard and even got a couple of minutes of their fuck the IRA song... In no way am I saying that all england fans are like that, I know they're not, and I know my luck is pure shite, but I've been all over Europe to watch and play football, almost all places have their share of arseholes as well but never with the level of pure red faced anger I've experienced with some england "supporters"...makes it real fuckin difficult to like a successful england team, so I'll be supporting Italy on Sunday and should Italy win the only people I'll feel bad for are those living anywhere near wembley, cause fuck knows how some of those "supporters" are gonna react... No doubt about it, England fans have a terrible reputation on the continent. I always remember the water cannons and tanks coming out in Belgium during Euro 2000, all over the news it was. But the English football team and all that surrounds it it as ever a microcosm of what the country is and the battle over how it should be framed. As such, the hooligans are just one part of that story. That’s just the state of the nation - the team and manager exemplifies the multicultural forward thinking country it should be along with so many of the fans. It’s the reactionary nationalists versus the liberal and progressive folk. Don’t get me wrong, I’d have loved to see England knocked out such is the instinctive rivalry there but taking a step back from that tribalism, the team is symbolic of the more progressive ideals of what the country should be about along with many of the followers. If these lads were knocked out, the fascist nutjobs in the public and government would be frothing at the mouth about liberal causes being a distraction, and the usual suspects like Sterling being absolutely pilloried (I wonder why...). There’s been proper cheerleading on numerous causes from Kane, Henderson, Sterling etc this tournament. I wouldn’t be fussed if they won by driving a clear wedge between who this is for and who it isn’t, e.g. by calling Boris Johnson or Priti Patel a c*nt. As a Scot, that would be an England victory that would make me sleep easy. Apart from Rashford and Henderson, thon England squad is pure Tory. I bet everyone of them other than the two I’ve mentioned voted for these horrible Tory kunts in the Dec19 General Election. Harry Kane has a framed photae of Johnson on his living room wall.

Trade diving for full on thuggery, English football has never been saintly and morally correct. And neither has Scottish football before anyone interjects. Always see this shite churned out time and time again. But all that 'holier than thou' nonsense? It's the kind of superior crap propagated on the fields of Eton.

You think? I really don't know the squad too well, but surely not Sterling?? Rashford genuine for sure, and I know Henderson wouldn't be found alive in Liverpool if he was of Tory persuasion (mainly the reason I have a soft spot for them and that city over most Tory teams in England).

I know someone who is so anti English because of Heysel (meant to go but wife was pregnant at the time), to him justice is holding Hillsborough type enquiries not arresting 4 people and saying justice.

EURO is enough for Italy, it would be too much for them to win both Wimbledon and EURO tomorrow. And they already won Eurovision hahahhaa.

All I remember about Eurovision is that everybody talked about the „sexrock“ band and how everybody wanted to get fucked by the singer. Both genders. I hate Eurovision. Probably invented by Raheem sterling which would be another reason to support Italy ngl

Honestly I think like 70% of them could not give a shit But I wouldn't have Sterling, the way he's been treated and how he's talked about racism, down as a tory Same for Phillips really, or the lads from irish descendants
Still, hopefully it ain't coming home

Germans are a lot more friendly towards us English than most other countries, at least from my experience there. So I always find the WW2 references from fans and media boring every time we play against each other and wish we'd move on.
