Okay... Let's dew this - after full april of listening to Gallaghers
25. The Hindu Times. I always thought it's the worst lead single by Oasis, I approve this now but... I noticed to myself that opening lyrics are... catchy. I can repeat it in my head by hours! It's very noisy tbh. I think it deserves the place of 2021 rating
24. Songbird. Probably my own Oasis top-3. Like its lightness, Liam's vocals (it's really great comparing to other HC songs), very ease lyrics (written by Noel anyway ahaha). This song is like... it's soaring while listening to this. Probably best acoustic song I know.
23. I've All I Need. I remember some threads where it was called 'Champagne Supernova level' but I didn't really get it right. After listening I can't stop appreciating of how good Liam was. And it would be Beady Eye song!!! Thank God he saved it for solo record. I've all. I need. And more...
22. Falling Down. I absolutely love the video - I cried in the end of first watching I think. Think it's thir best '00s video. I like the apocalypse of the song that compares with Noel's rejection from God. It's very bright picture in my head when Noel's sittin at the sky and sayin' 'You're shite, dear God!' ahaha. I love melody too, especially the intro - you can really feel down... Fantastic one.
21. Bold. I just love it all. Guitar, vocals, lyrics - it's Liam's strongest effort of As You Were. More points to Bold 'cause you've seen that video in Irish pub in 2015. Liam was heartbroken at that time. He was nothing. He expressid it all in Bold... And some personal lyrics - like, can you imagine the situation where Liam was guilty 'sayin "Yes I know, I've been bold"? It's very stupid but personal. Glad he wrote and released it. It deserves to cross all his mid-'10s troubles.
20. The Importance Of Being Idle. I love Wembley 2008 version, think it's best Noel vocals effort he's ever made (like when people say the same about Supersonic Earls Court 1995). I think I like live versions more than studio ones. I like when Noel starts the song with question 'Am I lazy?' and ends it with 'I guess, I'm just lazy'. But he doesn't mind it - good point after all. Best ballad of '00s Oasis easily.
19. Roll It Over. The last song we've heard original Liam's vocals. Chorus is fantastic Liam's effort. Plastic people around us... Very underrated, so much! Golden albums' songwriting level.
18. Gas Panic! Can listen to '2000 live versions every day as it's a highlight of all SOTSOG tour. Very personal lyrics for me, chorus especially. Very dark enough. Very interesting vibe. Easily best SOTSOG song.
17. Be Here Now. I like its stupidity. Like opening lyric - I'd try to wash my face in the morning sun lol. Love Liam's vocals. I think I like tthis song 'cause it's very different comparing to all previous Oasis releases but can't express it... Maybe it's about cocaine days. That song you don't need to understand what's going while listening. Just enjoy it. But toilet flush was too much, yep.
16. D'You Know What I Mean. I mentioned in different threads - I didn't understand the greatness of DYKWIM. Too long, boring solos, too much guitars... My eyes were opened after Rethink version. I started to imagine the picture like in Trainspotting when they're in railway station. I understood another rejection of God written by Noel. I understood the epicness of the character who's got nothing but goin' out in style. Fabulous strings that were hidden in original release. Great song.
15. Live Forever. You just can't make a rating without it. But yeah, it's only 15th place as I don't really like it now. I just don't need it to make myself better after listening. No way it's the greatest Gallaghers song, no regret. But I rarely listen to it these days. There are some songs you shouldn't repeat it too much. These songs are classics mostly. Life Forever is one of them. And yeah - I prefer US video version to UK one.
14. The Turning. One of the greatest choruses I've ever heard. Epic is not enough to describe it. I always feel like I'm taking legal drug while listening to this. So powerful. Picture of Liam shaking rag doll like his tambourine lol. Very upset DOYS had not so much choir...
13. Whatever. I'm free to be whatever I choose. And I'll sing the blues if I want. This song lets you free. Very enthusiastic lyrics. Very classic strings. My Mom got it as a ringtone.
12. Champagne Supernova. Same as Live Forever but I listen to more often. Very charming melody. Great Liam's vocals.
11. Hello. Maybe the only song I can sing properly in karaoke - very easy btw as it's very melodic. Absolutely love lyrics. Love '90s live versions as it's part of the greatest gig opening.
10. Slide Away. It's about Liam's vocals. How he nailed studio version. How he can nail it while solo tours. I don't really like love songs but it's a great one. We'll find a way of chasing the Sun. And we can slide away... Fantastic.
9. Come On Outside. The first time I tried NGHFB version was while watching lyrics video. I didn't really praise the demo version - just a average demo with good choir, nothing more. But when NGHFB released THAT lyrics video... With streets shots, with waterfalls, with night sky... I was shocked how good it was. It provides that VIBE. I like cow lyric - you should notice it's just typical Noel songwriting. That lyric is very atmospheric for me. Voices in my head. World and the wife get me down? Come on, just go outside! Enthusiastic song with fantastic melody. Keyboard and acoustics in solos are goosebumping. Easily best EP's song. It was on repeat too much in 2020.
8. Morning Glory. It's just buzzing. From lyrics through vocals to solos. Live version from 90s was much better as it had high-pitched solo during second bridge. Later versions are classic 'cause of THAT intro. Always feel euphoric while mumbling it somewhere. Noisy.
7. Everybody's On The Run. AHHH THAT CHOIR INTRO IS GOOSEBUMPING. I had an experience to run while studying sports classes in my university. Just imagine - you start running on the embankment with EOTR playing from your smartphone... My classmates thought it was about being cool lol. One of the greatest thing I've ever done. Perfect!
6. Acquiesce. Simple as hell but very catchy. Gallaghers duo is fantastic. Live versions are the ones why I fell in love with Oasis.
5. Rockin' Chair. A year or two ago I started mumbling opening verse as I found it very... personal to me. Then it came to all lyrics - especially when I felt sorry 'bout my loss of being loved by my crash. It's all too much for me to take that she's not there... And yeah, Liam sang it at his 2017 shows pointing to empty space where Noel should be. Heartbreak one.
4. My Big Mouth. My favourite one from April listenings. Such a massive mistake not to make it a BHN lead single. Punch-in-da-face song. Fantastic moment is when Liam's screaming 'I ain't never spoke to GOD!!!!!'. Amazing 2009 live version - depressive but very rocking. Wish Liam to perform it again.
3. Headshrinker. Song I always compare with another crush I loved. It's hard to express feelings after 22 other songs I described but that raw punk rock is amazing. Love when Liam sang about taking cocaine in da pouring rain - very brave lyric. As a cow lyric from Come On Outside I like 'I bow down to the tears of the clown' one too. Euphoric song. It's pure rock.
2. Supersonic. My favourite Oasis song without discussions. Nonsense lyrics (while being depressed I always compare myself with 'friend' from chorus), amazing vocals, best live versions Oasis ever did... That is Oasis.
1. Some Might Say. Hardly remember a day I didn't mumble lyrics during April. Not only April - maybe it's about a year definitely. Catchy one! I always liked lyrics about heaven and hell - you truly understand that someone lives even worse than you who lives with Internet, own room in apartments, cheap food and so on. Some Might Say is another example of classic Oasis songwriting - deep nonsense, you know? Education in the rain, sink is full of fishes... Noel kinda stepped away from this after glory days and that's sad. Anyway, Some Might Say is always great song and I enjoy the fact it's in the top of my 2021 rating
