I think they used few tricks, autotune and overdub, retake. but they didn't use a lot of tricks, because there is no machine-y sounding like those "performances".

That's gone now. Would appreciate another handle to be able to view? If that does not work try again later, i had errors then it worked (the torrent). Depends on when you try if the Google Drive had too much downloads. Sorted now will watch it tonight.

Definately some 'tricks' , where's that full-on orchestra coming from during Once!? It's not coming from that Piano. Still all very lovely though.

To be honest - as long as the result is this good - I don't really care if he uses some "tricks". As long as he doesn't do a "Milli Vanilli"

Many artists added tricks to their official releases. I only know oasis was an almost "Non-trick artist"(ha!), iTunes Festival 2009 release was terrible.

I would like to take this chance to applaud the production team involved...rather than pick the show apart.

Probably The River from this gig is my most favourite version of this song. I wasn't a big fan of this song, it's ok, nothing special, but this heavy version. Don't think additional drumming by Gene was the reason, but who knows? MTV Unplugged was fantastic, but this one is bloody fantastic. Liam, band, ladies from backing vocals, location, time, view - everything is perfect. Best thing Liam has done since he went solo. It's a big shame not to release as a DVD/BR, CD and vinyl. Think about it, good good people from management.

Well, 3 stars from The Guardian for either Gallagher can be considered as a success

Shorter Guardian review: if you are a fan, you'll like this, and if you're not a fan, the Guardian will pay you to write something mildly cynical and above-it-all.

I didn’t feel like there was much fiddling with the vocals, just quite a bit of reverb.
I like the way the girls were more animated. Was good to watch the birds dancing to Columbia

Wife and I watched this last night - beautifully shot with a great performance by Liam. Just loved it. Hopefully it becomes a Christmas "tradition" of Liam's to do this every year! Can somebody who is on twitter suggest it to him?
Some very slight niggles.
-Much of Liam's onstage charm comes from his on-stage banter. Obviously with no audience it's largely missing here. Even a handful of family and friends on the boat would have allowed a bit of chat.
-The Beatles did it on the roof and now Liam's doing on a boat. He should have thrown in a song from that rooftop concert as a tribute. Don't Let Me Down or Get Back? Always thought it was shame Oasis never did I've Got A Feeling with Noel and Liam duetting.
-The reference to "designer vaccinations" in Wall Of Glass should have been changed to "Corona vaccinations".
-Performance was good all round with the exception of a very ropey vocal on Shockwave.

Not a huge fan of Beatles covers as a whole, but now THAT I would have liked to hear. Of course the Pistols also did it on a boat, so he could have gone the other way and done "Pretty Vacant."

Not a huge fan of Beatles covers as a whole This is so true. A band that's easy to play but hard to cover. The only acceptable cover is Oasis' I am the Walrus. Even the other ones Oasis did weren't too good.

Even the other ones Oasis did weren't too good. Always kind of preferred their My Generation to any Beatles covers. Also not an easy band to cover but they could nail that exuberant venom that few can find.

Another review: inews.co.uk/culture/music/liam-gallagher-down-by-the-river-thames-review-oasis-786064Liam Gallagher, Down by the River Thames, review: snarling vocals recall Oasis’ peak
By Joe Goggins December 7, 2020 “Not arsed about you, big wheel,” Liam Gallagher sneered during his live-stream concert, Down by the River Thames, as his barge sailed past the London Eye. “Big thing, round, very good, f**k off.” Until now, it had all been unnervingly sedate. This slick show, shot a month ago and clearly intended to evoke the Sex Pistols’s 1977 riverboat concert The Great Rock and Roll Swindle, had treated punters (the ticket cost £16) to handsome, tourist-eye-view pictures of the capital and a band every bit as tight as the photography. Gallagher’s outburst was reassuring: he is, after all, still a living byword for rock’n’ roll ramshackle long after Oasis’s heyday. Opener Hello was a reminder of why the younger Gallagher is now the fans’ favourite; setting aside the fact that it lifts so liberally from Gary Glitter’s Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again that he’s credited as a co-writer, it still carries the kind of swaggering belligerence that was the band’s calling card in the 90s. Dressed accordingly in a Stone Island jacket and a bucket hat pulled down over his eyes was Bonehead, who joined for the Oasis tracks and would not have been out of place in the crowd, if there was one. At home, at least, the Oasis fans will have been delighted with the clutch of classics on the set list, plucked from the noisier end of the oeuvre and including a furiously upbeat Fade Away, a typically aggressive Morning Glory, and a rendition of Cigarettes and Alcohol that Gallagher updated for 2020 by bookending the line “is it worth the aggravation to find yourself a job when there’s nothing worth working for?” with a characteristically blunt rebuke to Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson. Elsewhere, this was an impressive showcase for Gallagher’s solo work – his third album Come On You Know is due next year. His newer songs remain intertwined by design with his old band, whether it be Halo channelling Lyla by borrowing from the Rolling Stones, or Why Me? Why Not. echoing the soundscape of Slide Away. There was something strangely poignant about the fact that he cut short the final song, Champagne Supernova, performed against the backdrop of the Houses of Parliament. Late-90s optimism is written so intrinsically into its DNA that it felt almost inappropriate in a present day ravaged by a pandemic and overshadowed by Brexit’s looming spectre. For all the polish of his backing band and the stately manner in which the show was filmed, Gallagher’s vocal performance recalled Oasis’s peak, his snarling tones soaring on the likes of Columbia and Supersonic – a world away from the thin whine that came to characterise the group’s latter days. A reunion seems further away now than ever. In the meantime, Down by the River Thames leaves no doubt as to which brother offers the closest approximation.
