Holy Mountain has the same cult following as Magic Pie. Same amount of hate. Same division.
Holy Mountain seems to have a similar standing as Magic Pie, and is essentially its contemporary comparison.
I fucking love both. So this is tough. Magic Pie edges it as the worse of the two - too too long.

Magic Pie could have been a brilliant song if it had a better chorus. The verses, bridge, and solo are all wonderful. But that hook is, by far, the lowest song-writing moment Noel came out with before 2000. Holy Mountain is much more solid in comparison - start to finish, it's exactly the blaring, raucous, pissed-up pop tune that Noel meant it to be.
So I'd say MP has higher highs, HM is the more complete package, and both of them have some great qualities.

Magic Pie is only great in the context of BHN. It even ends silly with Noel going 'Oh dear' at the end.
Holy Mountain is #4 in my ranking of his solo work.

Holy Mountain has at least energetic horns that make this song listenable. Magic Pie is just slow and boring nothing that was shockingly appeared instead of Stay Young. What is Magic Pie comparing to Stay Young? It's like Shkodran Mustafi to Tony Adams. There are more awful songs on WBTM? than Holy Mountain tbh. The whole middle part of WBTM? is appaling. Magic Pie should be more compared (by melody at least) with 'McDonalds lounge music' of Be Careful What You Wish For - that's a real nonsense

I don't mind Magic Pie, but it should've been like 3 minutes slower, so I'd go with it
Holy Mountain is not one of my faves, but it has grown on me and It's a fun little tune

Both are pretty terrible.
But Magic Pie's verses aren't actually that bad whilst Holy Mountain is shit throughout.
So Holy Mountain.

Yeah the Magic Pie chorus is so so flat and lifeless. He must have been off his head when he wrote that as its so nondescript.
Holy Mountain is shitloads of fun on the other hand.

Holy Mountain. I really can't get into that song. Magic Pie is nothing great, kind of a by the numbers Oasis song. But that's still better than Holy Mountain which frankly, is Beady Eye level of quality in my eyes. It has an okay chorus, but the verses are awful.

Magic Pie by far. I don't hate it but it must be one of Noel's wrost 90s songs.

honestly if he got liam to sing holy mountain in 1995 it wouldnt have stood out that badly. it would have just been a fun song like step out/some might say/round are way or whatever(not the song). i actually think with guitars and liam on vocals it would have been great in the 90s. although liam could have sung humpty dumpty and made it sound cool in the 90s. noel could have written almost anything

Holy Mountain is ok, but I love Magic Pie because of the blatant excess that surrounds all the tracks from the Be Here Now era.
