Ok i listened to the podcast, not as bad as i thought.
I understand his point of view but also understand why they dont want (ignition) having outside People talking in their name.
As a whole, problem is Noel should stop working with outside People, he is too much of a control freak and it never works and creates problems where there shouldnt be. Just stick to stupid videos and one producer.
Also weird that he doesnt mention the flag incident. If he was 100% honest he should have raised the incident when he says he doesnt know what happened. As a « maybe that was that ».

I work in the audiovisual industry and I can tell you there are lots of ways to fix the flag incident. It's not expensive and it's not unusual.
These kind of mistakes happen everyday in shootings and are always fixed in post-production.

I very very much doubt the flag had anything to do with the situation whatsoever. As offended as some in Asia may be, it’s not the equivalent of the Nazi flag. The flag is still used by the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (aka Navy) to this day.
In fact, that flag is technically different from the WWII flag, in that the sun disc is off center on the current naval ensign. I’ve seen Gorillaz using that flag in the past as well. Has Mr. Dan Abnormal faced any backlash over it?

But he's not promoting any album at the moment, so it wouldn't overshadow any current release. In fact now would be a good time to release it, with people self isolating and having a bit of free time to watch movies. Noel seems like the kind of person that avoids confrontation. It's like he agreeds on things that he's not sure about like "I'll just say yes and will deal with it later" |

Please don't say stupid shit like this, it makes you either look very ignorant of the situation, or making excuses for the Rape of Nanking, the Battan Death March, Unit 731, Sook Ching, and all the other genocide and war crimes perpetrated by the Imperial Japanese government. You should know that the continued use of the flag by the Japanese Navy is a highly contentious issue even within Japan. Even the continued use of the Hino Maru is opposed by Japanese progressives. And the Rising Sun flag is extensively used by Japanese right-wing fascist groups, precisely because of what it represents. Still not the equivalent of the Nazi flag? If I offset the swastika on the Nazi flag by a few inches from the center does it make any difference if I were to fly that flag in public? Gimme a fucking break. Totally irrelevant to the discussion. Nobody should have to say this, but it's not any more ok for Gorillaz to use the Rising Sun flag than it is for Noel. |
