Nobody releases compilations these days in this age of streaming. Well thats an absolute load of rubbish. Point still stands though, an Oasis compilation post-90s is pointless. And every major act worth their weight in salt ain't doing it. |

Well thats an absolute load of rubbish. Point still stands though, an Oasis compilation post-90s is pointless. And every major act worth their weight in salt ain't doing it. The Killers topped the chart a few weeks ago with a best of album. Best of compilations are strong. Eminem released a 2010s/2020s best of only recently that has been shifting massive numbers. An Oasis 00’s would do extremely well. |

I'd be up for it.
Choose well, add some unheard material, and it could brighten up the general perception of their career. It could at least prove that strong moments and songs existed from Oasis past 1996, contrary to some opinions.

How can you make best of and put new shit there? Noel did it in 2021, don't forget! Biograph by Bob Dylan was one of the first compilation albums to include new material if I'm not mistaken. That's the first compilation album I'm aware of to do it at least, Biograph came out in 1985 so they've been doing it for nearly 40 years at least! |

A tracklist challenge? Yes please!
Ok what I've done is pick 4 songs from each of the albums to give a nice even spread of material from that period of time. It's not necessarily my favourite 16 songs but these are the ones I perceive to make up the most realistic 'best of'. The compilation totals 71 minutes (the same length as 'Be Here Now') which means it can fit onto 1 CD and 4 sides of vinyl. There's 9 Liam sung songs, 5 Noel, 1 featuring co-lead vocals and 1 instrumental. I've tried to spread these out as equally as possible whilst maintaining a strong flow. Just to make it extra difficult for myself I've self imposed a rule of 1 song from each album per side of vinyl which I think it's a neat little concept cuz it keeps the balance between the four album incredibly equal. Additional rules include no songs from the same album next to one another and no less than 2 fully Liam sung songs per side.

In terms of bonus material I'd compile it separately. That way we'll get a hell of a lot more.

I put it together on Spotify the other day and checked the single and Time Flies and they're all identical annoyingly. Good to know the single proper fades out fully. There's probably 20 songs that could be picked from in that 9-year stint that would make a best of that's up there with a lot of bands. Not the greats, not the Oasis of the 90s probably, but definitely very good. |
