I find the idea that two close friends didn't discuss the incident off air, before and after the broadcast, nonsensical. Given the attitude and tone shown during the conversation about use of a disabled platform, it would hardly be shocking for Matt Morgan to be comfortable with some lads, lads, lads bollocks 14 years before. Its alpha male banter, that's their whole premise. And it just creates blindspots to the likes of Morgan and further enables predators like Brand. Works similarly to mob mentality.

Well, seven allegations have now been made against Brand but as for Matt Morgan, I've not heard the clip and I don't want to and I've never even listened to any of his podcasts or anything.

I'd push back on the idea that their dynamic was "alpha male banter", in that sense. The vast majority of the time, the conceit was in them tearing apart their self-images; Matt thrived on telling stories of his social inadequacies, such as the time he walked down a corridor and saw a woman walking towards him who Matt imagined would ask "Are you alright?". As they walked past each other, the woman looked up, said nothing, and Matt loudly declared: "Not too bad!". They passed each other and never spoke again. Often, Russell would tell a story painting himself as a hero, while laughing at Matt's commentary painting him more as a dithering Dot-Cotton fool. It always seemed like Russell got a real kick out of that, and would joyfully laugh at his own idiocy.
I think that's why this news unsettled me so much; it's easy to get the impression now that their shows were like Andrew Tate Alpha Bro Podcasts, but they weren't. The idea that their usually warm, surreal, self-deprecating banter was happening while off-air Russell was continuing sociopathic predatory behaviour and Matt potentially knew about it gives me a flip in my stomach. And watching Russell's dead-eyed videos now, chalking it all up to The Man Silencing Free Thinkers!! kills me. I honestly felt there was a warm, childish, troubled-but-loveable person to him beneath the showmanship, but to see him now delivering pre-rehearsed conspiracy-styled shite in response to accusation of grooming high-schoolers and raping women makes me feel so fucking apathetic about human nature. If anything ever comes out about Chris Martin, I'm never engaging in pop-culture again.

Brutally killed by a police officer, enabled by his colleagues who indulged in alpha male misogynistic banter. Made it all the easier for him to get away with it. Same with Brand. It's not a joke, it has consequences.

If someone said that a bloke down the pub had got his nob out in front of a girl in the toilets and then laughed about it with his mates everyone would believe it! These two, who were friends actually laughed about it on a radio broadcast. The idea that there wasn’t more chat about it, I find unlikely. In most of these cases people around them know something. What would have it cost Matt Morgan to ditch his association with Brand at the time? Money, power and hubris not only protects people like Brand, it makes them more likely to do it in the first place.

Just put Radio 5 on and heard them discussing Matt Morgan's clip. My first thoughts after all that stuff had come out was the attachment to Matt Morgan and all the digging they'll do to find clips. I am in no way a fan of Matt Morgan. I've had a couple of exchanges with him where he was actually just a complete bellend. But it's shitty if we start to go after him because of the alleged actions of Russell Brand. None of us know what we would do with information on someone so powerful within the industry. It's all well and good assuming we'd all be Mother Theresa but the threat of losing your livelihood and everything that comes with it just for speaking out is a lot easier said than done. It appears to me he did the right thing and just distanced himself from him as an individual. That's probably what I'd have done. Matt Morgan isn't like others where he can just go off into the sunset with his millions. He's got a patreon and obviously struggled a lot like us all during Covid. Last thing we need is the virtue signalling warriors after anyone they can cancel because of the actions of someone else. I agree. Russell Brand is the villain here. Everyone with an association with him shouldn’t be tarred and feathered. Well. Maybe people who watch his YouTube should be tarred and feathered…

Don't underestimate how much the clip this week of Matt Morgan laughing along with it with effect Matt Morgan's career either. We have a really bad habit of going after whoever we can these days when stories like this break. So often innocent people get the virtue signallers attacks.
Russell Brand is the accused. Not anyone else.

I see that Russell Brand has made his first appearance online since all the allegations came out. He seems to paint himself as a victim which is wrong in this situation.

It’s so interesting seeing Brand’s fans being like he’s the victim cuz he’s spreading conspiracy( so called truth), while everyone else’s fans are going off they are FRIENDS of Brand, they must have a word of it.

Apparently Brand was questioned by the police over an allegation when another woman reported him to the police in 2014 but the case was eventually dropped. But it was in the Sunday Scum so......

After watching the documentary and taking everything into account about Brand the claims and allegations are pretty weak for all this headline news. His whole persona was being a "top shagger" and I don't quite understand it at this stage.
Not in anyway am I condoning anything he may have done but as I type this he's not legally guilty of anything either.

The police have now received further allegations against Brand and are now investigating but it'll take some time. It makes me wonder just how many more allegations if any there'll be.

Brand is an actor, he shape shifts his persona around it. His mainstream media years were "lads lads lads topper shagger tight jeans wahey" now it's all conspiracy theories and finding the truth.
Brand's "character" was aggressively sexual, him announcing live on Radio he'd just exposed himself to a woman minutes before, could have been an attempt at "humour" or a genuine account of an encounter he had moments before. You didn't know for sure, but people found it funny, apparently. Thats the grey area people like him thrive in and caused enough of the right controversy for the media to keep him employed and to write column inches about him.
Difficult to say if Matt Morgan really knew what went on, but he must have seen him on nights out and interacting with fans (women) to know that he wasn't the type you took home to the parents.
Brand's always been a massive vagina, hope he gets banged up for all this and put on a register.

If a recording come out where he's admitting all to Morgan and he's laughing along then it's a bit different. The reason he's potentially got away with it is the facade and he's clearly built up to mask any accusations as that promiscuous, eccentric character. I can completely see a situation where even his closest friends would just see that as what it is and nothing more. That of course doesn't mean that's all it was, but to speculate something potentially so damaging to innocent people isn't where I think the conversation should be heading.
