Viagra Boys released a surprise EP 'Common Sense' a couple of days ago. Fans of 'Street Worms' should definitely check it out:

Fontaines DC are amazing. Best band of the 21st century. Lol The new song didn't impress me as much as I was expecting on the first listen but it seems to get better with each listen. Can't wait for the new album, and especially Lucid Dream which sounded really interesting live.

Thought the new IDLES single was disappointingly average but it's somewhat grown on me since. Anyway the new Fontaines DC single is out. Pretty low key, not bad though:
A new artist who released her first single recently which impressed me was Billy Nomates. Kinda like Sleaford Mods but more palatable. Probably my favourite post punk track of the year so far after Viagra Boys' Common Sense.

Well impressed with this. Came out a couple of years ago now but it completely passed me by. Feels like Post-Punk with hip-hop and indie influences.

I love post-punk but I just can't get into Idles. It's just shouting and bawling and just comes off as too hard to be edgy.

I love post-punk but I just can't get into Idles. It's just shouting and bawling and just comes off as too hard to be edgy. I can understand this. I wasn't feeling their debut, it really grated with me, but their follow up was my album of the year and Colossus my song of the year. It played with tension and dynamic in a really exciting way, almost cinematic. As far as I'm concerned it's easily their standout song. Unfortunately I'm a little lukewarm on the new material, Mr Motivator and Grounds, which are decent enough but don't really sound like singles to me. My only real gripe with the band is some of Joe Talbot's lyrics, which can be very hit or miss. When they're good they're great but the misses are very amateur and pretentious and pull me out of enjoying some of their songs to the extent I could enjoy them. His heart's in the right place but he all too frequently displays that he's incapable of articulating his thoughts in ways that are either entertaining or thought provoking. I feel this spills into live shows too. I rewatched their Glastonbury performance recently (which for the record is great) but him shouting stuff like "I!! AM!! A!! FEM!!-IN!!-IST!!" in between songs makes me cringe. Obviously I support the sentiment but spelling it out to that extent just feels real dumb.

From a few weeks ago:
Yesterday:
A few months back. Some outtake from wayback that got released on All That Glue. Not sure about the Mm-mm-mm-mm hook (feels placehold) but the rest is ace:
All solid.

After listing to Ne Touche Pas Moi from their new album I recalled this comment, and I simply had to search for it just to respond to you, because I definitely feel what you're saying about his well-meaning but slightly cringey lyrics. Slightly... well I'm afraid to say he's hit a new low with this new track which is so banale that it almost comes off as satire. He makes a song about how you shouldn't harrass women, and all it comes down to is him saying how your body belongs to you, and repeatedly shouting "CONSENT!" It's straight up embarrassing.

Mmmh, I think it works well for them tbh They're simple and mainly made up of slogans lyrics, but you always get where they're coming from and stand on those matters and it all flows well with the chaos and angst of the instrumentals I've listened to Ultra Mono twice and I'm really liking it, I was a massive fan of Joy but this could challenge it in the long run, Carcinogenic is definitely one of the best things I've heard this year
