What do people think of the Let It Be album, with and without Phil Spector’s additions? Which version is your favourite? Paul loathes it but I love the string additions to The Long and Winding Road - the choir is too much on the other hand. George's solo on the album version of Let It Be is my favorite. Outside of those two variations, everything else is overcooked. Agree

I really liking ‘Beatles For Sale’ lately and the single that pairs along with it ‘I Feel Fine / She’s a Woman’
Lennon / McCartney originals like ‘No Reply’ ‘I’m A Loser’ ‘Baby’s In Black’ ‘...Spoil The Party’ ‘What You’re Doing’ ‘I’ll Follow The Sun’ ‘Eight Days A Week’ and ‘Every Little Thing’ are all stellar. ‘Rock and Roll Music’ is one of their best covers too.
Sure it has a couple of clunkers: ‘Mr Moonlight’ and ‘Honey Don’t’ (Lennon should’ve sang that) but this album is criminally underrated amongst Beatles fans.

This quote of Paul's made me laugh, from the latest edition of Uncut magazine:

'Eight Days a Week' has never been one of my favourite early Beatles (meaning pre-Rubber Soul) songs; but, listening to it a few times today, it is perfect bubblegum pop really.

Do The Beatles still get a lot of radio airplay in your countries ? I remember that between the age of 12 and 16, I heard on the radio at least, on the top off my head, "Hey Jude", "Yesterday", "Michelle", "Let It Be", "Ticket To Ride", "Help!", "A Day In The Life", "Come Together", "Yellow Submarine", "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", "With A Little Help From My Friends", "Can't Buy Me Love", "A Hard Day's Night", "Paperback Writer", "You Won't See Me", "She Loves You" and probably others too. But since then I don't think I've heard a Beatles tune. Ok, I don't listen to radio as much but even when I occasionally listen to some pop/rock stations, I don't hear them. Even when I'm with my dad and he plays Nostalgia radio, I hear at least 2 ABBA or Supertramp songs but no Beatles, which is weird but there you go.

I listen to Radio 2, which I believe is currently the most listened to station over here. It's a good mix of old and new and DJ's who have a lot of knowledge concerning music. I hear the Beatles quite often.

Beatles For Sale is excellent, and so is the US Capitol version Beatles '65.

Ringo steals the show on 'I Feel Fine'. That's such a great groove he's got going for the verses (or is it the chorus, the "Baby says she's mine..." bit?)

I’m glad it was released, makes for a very different experience.

I think I remember the Libertines doing a decent cover of 8 Days a Week. Now there’s a band I’ve been meaning to listen to again. That first album was spectacularly ramshackle.

Which Beatles songs have you most listened on last.fm ? Now that I can have it without using Spotify, here are my results:
1. For No One 2. Strawberry Fields Forever 3. Eleanor Rigby 4. I Am The Walrus 5. Sexy Sadie 6. Come Together 7. I'm Only Sleeping 8. She Said, She Said 9. Here Comes The Sun 10. Dear Prudence

Oh my god, McCartney III coming soon? Some cryptic hints going on.... Of McCartney solo efforts, the 'McCartney' albums (1 and 2) are some of the most weird and wonderful in his back catalogue. Never perfect, often throwaway at times, but intentionally so in its raw and experimental nature and gives us some of the most varied and best music in his solo career. Will be fascinating to see if the eccentricity and variety shines through in this latter part of his career if he is to release it (the last album that was quite experimental was The Fireman with Youth in 2008).

I heard Friday for the announcement. Completing a 50 year old trilogy is a very exciting prospect! Hopefully we hear new music on Friday.
