Well thank fuck he had a rethink. The version I heard was a full on, unapologetic Christmas song that was instrumentally like a parody/pastiche of cheesy Xmas songs you would hear on any Xmas single compilation, where the main instrument was sleigh bells as shakers throughout the entire song (lounger than the drums, acoustic guitars - basically Noel singing along to sleigh bells like a Cliff Richard Xmas single). In addition were the bell chimes you can hear now, which he's kept. But yeah, you may be disappointed that the element of Noel Gallagher doing a Christmas single has been taken away from the final mix, but don't be. This is better. Btw there's another recording that's been done of a song that's an old friend of all of ours that I guess will be released maybe with this or later. Did he re-record Come On Outside or is it the same version we’ve had for years now?

I like it. Shows me the real Noel is still there buried under some of his recent nonsense.

As I said from my very first post and repeated throughout, that was an unfinished work in progress mix that parts of which had been recorded that day. No a demo. Not a different mix. The final take but still unfinished. Come on Outside is v similar but slightly different tempo

This sounds amazing Ive had it on repeat on the way to work. I like this is the place but this is like finding an old favourite sweater you've not worn all summer!
Possible my favourite solo Gallagher track. Hopefully it gets on a UK xmas advert and get loads of promotion
Awesome Noel

It's a great song, but it feels like if Sardy produced it. It seems overcompressed, at least in Spotify
It's totally in the style of the first album. Even the lyrics and the structure of the song

So it'll be the same, just better recorded.

I like this! It's the cutesy child of If Love Is the Law and You've Got the Heart of a Star that they've brought to the Christmas get-together and you've met him for the first time and can't help but want to pinch his widdle cheeks! I do see what y'all are saying about the chorus sounding like a pre-chorus, but honestly, Noel sounds so confident in his vocals/performance here that it really doesn't matter. A big chorus would ruin the warm and cozy vibes anyway. You guys need to stop obsessing over massive choruses. Not all songs call for one.

I find it confusing that Noel"I hate Christmas"Gallagher releases a christmas song. And I actually find the christmas bells annoying, I would like to hear the song without them.

I don't think it's about our "obsession", it's more about what Noel got us used to when it comes to his songs' structure. It's like "The Fame" without "It's maybe the fame..." bit

I like it, but it feels a little short? Could have been developed further.
Still probably my fav track of this EP cycle he is currently on.
Picture disc available to pre-order from the official store for all the vinyl collectors!

Right, I like it. Putting aside I was expecting BMR, it's great. It definitely has that classic Noel melody (like simmo referenced). Definitely see what people mean by the pre-chorus thing but it does still work. The lyrics are great though. And it's classic Noel. "Running around in circles coming last" is just great.

And the middle eight is great too. Takes it up another level.
Only complaint is the compression a bit but I think that with most songs tbh. It's playing it through Spotify/not great headphones. Once I get it on in the car I usually can hear everything!

Maybe the original really Christmassy mix is the 7” mix!? And he’ll release that version in December? Seems mad that the EP isn’t out before Christmas to maximise sales from teenagers (buying it for their dads). X

X The only reason I can fathom the EP being out in March is that he's trying to bridge some other event.

LYRICS
Everybody needs someone to be there Everybody needs to be alone If ever you should take the time to wonder Let me be the star that guides you home
All of the dreams you have I have them too And all of the songs I sing I wrote for you
I can see the faces of the millions Lying broken underneath the past Lonely souls I cast across the ocean Running round in circles coming last
All of the hopes I feel Hang by a thread All of the words I've got Get left unsaid All of our memories They (may?) fade to grey I know that you lift me up I know that you lift me up My oh my!
In another dream I'll catch you falling from the sky In another world we find a way Until kingdom come we're waiting for the sun to die On another sea we'll sail away
All of the dreams you have I have them too All of the songs you sing I wrote for you Whatever the cat drags in Belongs to us Not gonna give you up Not gonna give you up My oh my
Everybody needs someone to be there Everybody needs to be alone If ever you should take the time to wonder Let me be the star that guides you home

Until kingdom come I'm waiting for the Sun.... Isn't it?
Also, I though it was: All of the hope I feel Can't buy a friend

Just Noel and Strangeboy I thought that Emre Ramazanoglu from the Holmes sessions was involved with TITP at least? In a recent interview Noel said that he has a great engineer who helps him make the songs sound how he wants them. X

I only see it as a 'Christmas song' in the same way that If Love Is The Law is kind of an Xmas song.
It's got that vibe to it but at the end of the day it's just a love song. It's definitely got some of Noel's best lyrics of recent times in.
That middle eight is brilliant.
