Beckham is the bollocks on this game though....fantastic at passing, crossing, shooting etc Just scored a quality goal in the last minute to win the match with him ;D

Also Football Manager 2006 is released tomorrow.

So...

As you all know a lot of people have been getting excited about the release of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 and i'm no different so at 9 o'clock this morning i went down to my local HMV store to pick up the game (along with Football Manager 2006)

A few minutes later i was back home so i done myself a coffee and stuck the game on.

The first thing i noticed were that most things looked exactly like PES4 although i skipped the intro video. ;D

So i'm at the main menu, which they have changed, and there's no messing about, i click on match and choose a nice easy match to start off with.

I choose Chelsea (not just because they are a great team but i wanted to be a team with the license) against Wigan.

I go for the basic settings (the screen here is the same as PES4), 3 stars, 10 minutes match i choose to play at Hampden Park as it's the only new ground i notice on the game from PES4 and now i have to choose my team.

I felt a little let down, again the screen is the same as the old game here aswell, but it wasn't that reason, the reason was all the tactics seem the same as PES4 which i was a little annoyed about as i thought they would have improved them.

Anyway, it's the game play on the Pro Evo series that makes people love the game so i was willing to look past so i choose my team for Chelsea and started the match.

The entrances again are near enough the same as PES4 except ... and it's a negative (unless i pressed something by accident) and the team news doesn't come onto the screen which is an important feature on a footy game, in my opinion.

So onto the match itself, i kick-off and again everything looks very similar to PES4 (i don't want to harp on about that but it's a fact) one thing i notice straight away is the how awkward it was to control the players as opposed to the previous game. This may change within time as i understand you have to get used to a game but i have to say i didn't like it.

The game play is a lot like PES4, which is a good thing, but like i said it seems more awkward to control players which might make for a harder game to master (as i did with the old game and it got boring) but yeah the game seemed harder, i was struggling to create attacks with Chelsea and against a team like Wigan but again that could be because it was my first game on it.

The referring didn't seem to have been improved and neither did positional sense from the players and the ref (actually from my first match it seems to have got worse).

The game ended 0-0 (with Wigan not having a shot and me only having 2 or 3) and went into a very boring period of extra-time which also ended goal-less and into penalties which i won 3-0 scoring all mine and Wigan missing all of there's.

Like i say it's early to judge a game after just one match but my early thoughts are, the game's very good but too much like the old version and i'm not sure 30-odd quid for what, at the moment, seems like just an update on transfers, isn't money well spent but that could change and i'm pretty sure it will.

This game is the fucking dogs bollocks.

Really starting to get a feel for it now, downloaded the PES Fan file and thats made the game even better.
