Although those twice of 10 minutes commercial break last night, I can't complain as MTV did broadcast songs I didn't expect - Sad Song and Cast No Shadow (with Bonehead!). These two songs nearly brought tears in my eyes. Who would have though that we would hear these songs sung by Liam on the same show he would have been 23 years ago. Life is beautiful. Cherish the moment and enjoy the music. Well done, Liam. I'm proud of you.

Just watched this again at home, much easier to appreciate the finer detail.
Really happy for Liam that such a great performance was broadcast globally. Apart from the obvious highs which have already been pointed out I’ll just add that we sometimes underestimate the power of the boy’s voice. This was the biggest arrangement so far in his solo era, with so much going on musically around him. For his vocals to not sound lost in all of that, but be so in control and divine truly shows us the scale of his talent. Mind blown.
Backing girls were great, they didn’t overdo it and their subtlety at times brought more than their bigger parts. Drew’s vocals blended well, props to him 🎱. Strings incredible.
Apart from Liam and his cute lil right dimple, Christian deserves a special mention. Hard to take your eyes off him playing, it’s rare to see it as he’s usually blocked by the Rock n Roll cover but the camera panned in on him a few times and it’s clear he’s not just a keyboard player. He’s the level of a concert pianist and this type of gig shows us how talented he is. Flawless.
Excluding the boy: Man of the Match: Christian Madden 🎹👏

What was your favourite parts? The bits you really enjoyed? Serious question. 🙂 Overall i thought it was pretty good, Liam's performance especially. Shouted too much on a few tunes for my liking (Once especially, that song is supposed to soft, Gallagher junior), but on the others he really did well on the new ones, and on the Oasis ones. With the female backing singers, it almost sounded like Noel was there on Cast no Shadow (his body double was there though, pretending to play lead guitar). I'd say the stand outs where Now that I've Found you, Why Me Why not and of course Sad Song and Stand By Me, which was a really great version, nice to have it back after so many years, one of my fav from Oasis. Wall of Glass was also transposed well on acoustic. Bit disappointed by Gone, sounded a bit flat but Liam's vocals raised the level. I also liked something maybe minor, but when he said "thanx, we tried to do our best" or something, seems like he was really anxious to make a good gig and make up for the previous MTV unplugged. On a side note, I miss the stools from MTV unplugged vintage, that was cool as fuck. Rock stars playing sitting down, now that was a good idea. Thank you for this, it’s good to hear your thoughts and they’re so much more meaningful when articulated this way rather than a negative one liner. Appreciated and a good post. 😊

The vids posted on youtube are great, but surely they will come in better quality? The ones up now are in poor quality. esp the Oasis songs ones.

Oh i loved all of those gigs, Nirvana, AiC, Pearl Jam, and the Cranberries one was so beautiful <3

And a shoutout to KISS who got Ace and Peter back for the first time since they kicked Peter out in the late 70s.

the whole thing should make you appreciate noel as a songwriter even more. the oasis songs are so, so much better than the rest. you only realise it in such a setting. good vocal performance by liam, although sometimes you could hear some kermit (especially in parts of stand by me). sad song was awesome though.

I think his own songs stands really well up against the classics. I really love every single song. And Kermit I Can’t hear it at all? Im thinking 2006 and comparing with This. Not even the same leauge

Just finished watching this. I've watched a hell of a lot (probably all) of the pro shot live videos of Oasis, Beady Eye, and Liam solo.
With this in mind, I can say with 100% certainty, that this is his BEST vocal performance since 2000. Easily.
Sad Song blew my head off with how good it was.

Better is an interesting term - they are more familiar if you know them as Oasis songs from the 1st time around. They have that emotional connection. To the casual listener like my 19 year old son, 12 year old daughter and her mate who was round last night they were Meh towards Sad Song Stand By Me and Cast No Shadow. They preferred Liam's solo stuff. Not because it's better but it's because what they are familiar with.

Nope totally disagree sorry. I think it should be enjoyed for what it is. Loved the Noel gig but that was over 20 years ago.

I did wonder what kind of target group I am supposed to be, crazy cat/dog lady, addicted to online gaming? I don't even have a pet and used to play minesweeper when I was supposed to study!
