And no, not ‘Sad Song’, unless you’re serious.
There’s more contenders than you think for this....

Idler's Dream, I suppose. Noel's usually too good a melodist to write purely sad songs, though, there's always a spark of hope in there somewhere.

I was listening to Fade Away (War Child) which ranks high on this list.
Then I thought but how about Listen Up, or Rockin Chair, etc....and this brilliant thread was born.

Let's All Make Believe. It's essentially about the death of the original (plus Alan) Oasis lineup

Rockin Chair by some distance I think.
Most of the ‘sad’ songs above have an element of optimism to them amongst the yearning. Not much saving grace in Rockin Chair though - it’s recurring motif ‘it’s all too much for me to take when you’re not there’ captures the feelings of the entire song.

Fade away. There’s a lot of sadness in this song hiding under its most glorious rush of punk rock energy.
Cast no shadow is another.

Cast No Shadow. For me that's the only time Oasis ever approached Verve levels of depressing.

when noel used to write beautiful ballads in his sleep, now we only get the likes of Dead in the Water for rarities
