Wasn't When I'm In Need classed as co-written even though Liam pretty much wrote it himself? I think the groovy outro that was added classed it as co-written.
There's probably quite a lot of songs on the new album similar to that, Liam has done the majority of the work but the songwriters have refined them a bit so it goes down as co-written.

I'd be VERY surprised if Andrew Wyatt wasn't involved with this one. In the credits to ”As it was”, it says that he wrote it entirely by himself. For all the other songs used from ”As your were” and the new album, it says Liam Gallagher + any names of the other co-writers. But for ”Once”, the only name included is Liam’s. So it seems he wrote ”Once” completely by himself. Or they’ve had a gentleman’s agreement to let him have full credit.

To me the best thing of once (the part we've heard) is that the lyrics flow perfectly with the gorgeous melody

I’m absolutely buzzing off this song and I’ve only heard a minute of it. Proper emotional. Gotta be the 2nd single.

I'm gonna go slightly off topic, but Off At The Next Exit is an absolute gem. As time passes by it's probably the Beady Eye song I feel most inclined to go back to over and over again. I love it, though it always reminds me of a Blur song. The chords are very Graham Coxon. It's a Gem song, right? Yeah, a definite highlight for Gem.

Yeah, a definite highlight for Gem. given that he divorced not long after Beady Eye ended I always assumed those few emotional songs he wrote during that period come from the break down of his marriage. Certainly out of character compared to his previous songwriting. Wonder If he is still writing now as he doesn't really have an outlet as a touring musician for Noel.

Okay so
1 - it’s taken me about 30 mins to read this thread because I stopped and listened to that studio quality clip repeatedly tonight
2 - I can’t believe it but it genuinely made me tear up, fully. Maybe I’ve just had an up and down few days but this just really hits you in the heart
3 - The lyrics really are wistful and romantic and beautiful and the nostalgia and feel-good of the “my friend” line are just so heartwarming
4 - I know what people mean about the “voice going up” being a bit unnecessary but it’s kinda the same to me as the “voice going down” on dead in the water. It is what it is and overall this song is just edging onto a magical level because it’s really moving me and music really very rarely does that now
You know, I’m actually working on some stuff for this album and I’m just really excited about it. I just thought I’d share that here of all places where people will get why I’m so happy. It’s like a dream come true to play some kinda role in the journey. I would love it if everyone comes away from this album like they’ve found a little treasure in a few of those songs that they’ll take away and keep on a personal level.
This song has really got something special going on. The hype is real

Personally, I think this one is all Liam. It just feels too personal. Also, I might add, that in today's hyper-litigious legal world, I would be surprised if the lawyers were absolutely clear on who wrote what. When "Once" becomes a huge hit, you can bet someone will sue if they think it's partially theirs. Just the way the world works. (But I could be wrong).

That's what I thought as well for a second as it's not the kind of melody Liam's ever written so far, his songs were always much simpler tunes so it looks like somebody else's work or at least a great input from another songwriter to bolster a tune Liam had. But why would they do that? It's not as if Liam wanted to be recognised as a songwriter, on the contrary he's the first to admit he needs help writing songs & it's not his proper job, which is being a singer & a frontman; he's alright singing other people's songs & publicly thanks his army of songwriters. So why not credit other songwriters involved in "Once"?

I think Liam doesn't get anywhere enough credit for his song writing. Tunes such as Start anew and When I'm in need have wonderfully vulnerably lyrics and killer melodies but were over produced, which took away some of their best elements that we heard in their acoustic form.

Liam is an incredible songwriter, I think he’ll always be modest about it because he knows he’s not the genius that Noel is, and admits he needs help with detail.
All we can do right now is speculate about Once, I’d like to think it’s all his own work with guidance where needed.

I hope we get our hands on the demo of Once (and ideally all the other demos). This is exactly what I thought after listening the demo. This demo should be released as well as the album version! Or I hope they already recorded Once acoustically. Acoustic Liam is always fantastic.

It may just how the song starts, just an acoustic and Liam and then kicks in after the first chorus with strings etc.

True.
What's odd is in the film at the end of the 'demo' clip Liam says "I'm happy with that" to someone? I mean he could have gone to a professional studio to record the demo but I wouldn't have thought we would have had that much time on tour.
Could just be the edit if the film, and the visual clip could have nothing to do with Once.

Reminds me of Back After The Break and Off At The Next Exit which were both highlights from the Beady Eye era. I'm encouraged by what I've heard so far. I'm gonna go slightly off topic, but Off At The Next Exit is an absolute gem. As time passes by it's probably the Beady Eye song I feel most inclined to go back to over and over again. I concur on both being really good tunes; and I’d add In the Bubble with a Bullet as well.

It annoys me that we likely wont get to hear this properly for months, even longer if it doesnt make the 2nd single.
I can't stop listening to the clip of it. Its gonna end up driving me mad.
