New song reminds me of the Doves between Some Cities and Kingdom of Rust. Love the shuffle and shimmering guitars. Canβt wait for album news.

Such a heartbreaking tune. And the sheer attention to little sonic details they pay...not quite the sudden impact of There Goes the Fear or Black and White Town but it grows with every listen.

The Doves really Know how to fill their canvas sonically. Been like this their entire career. Glad to see they havenβt lost anything after 11 years.

The new tune is classic Doves. Great stuff I'm slightly underwhelmed, to be honest. And I adore this band. Granted, it's a good straightforward, conventional sounding Doves track. But I just reckon it's not A-side material for their standards by any means. Carousels in turn, I can't get enough of it. Just the bass and drum grooves, the attention to little sonic details, an irresistible melody and Jimis fragile and melancholic 'non-voice' who always seems to sing just a tad bit behind the rest of the band. Nevertheless, I'm excited for the album, to say the least. On another note carlober, thanks for recommending Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever's 'Cars in Space'! My personal song of the year so far. Stunning song in every aspect!

I complain about them not being around for years.... but Iβve yet to listen to their new songs. Unreal, but Iβve been trying to carve time out to just listen to music properly so will do it then (and not just have it on in the background like Iβve done lately).

I'm in a Doves mood today.
Time to revisit one of my favorite tunes from them, Andalucia.

I'm in a Doves mood today. Time to revisit one of my favorite tunes from them, Andalucia. No matter how loud I play this tune, it sonically demands more than my hearing would ever accept. An absolute majestic 'final' single from doves, in a alternative timeline this should have been a number 1 record.

An absolute majestic 'final' single from doves, in a alternative timeline this should have been a number 1 record. It's subtle and layered in a classical Doves way, but I do share your point about loudness. This tune is alive, it needs to be played as loud as you can.

Doves are a great band.I have a few of their albums from before so I won't buy any of the reissues. I thought that they had split up a while ago.

Catch The Sun from their dubet album has always been one of my favourites by them. I haven't listened to it for a while though.

Holy shit I just realised the album cover is from a Finnish gas station!? No wonder it looked strangely familiar. I had one of those near where I used to live. I just didn't recognise it at first because I never expected it, but now I saw the text "itsepalvelu" which means self service.
