It was a reverse Morning Glory (though I think MG did better in the US than Melancholy did in the UK). Melancholy: United Kingdom (BPI) 600,000+ United States (RIAA) 5,000,000+ Updated with Morning Glory sales: United Kingdom (BPI) 4,700,000 United States (RIAA) 4,000,000 Can't really speak for the whole Europe. They were successful, very successful, but they didn't come with the bang oasis did around MG They were both released in October 1995, so it's no wonder that Melancholy did not do as well sales wise in the UK as the US. I think I saw that its highest chart position in the UK was #4.

Saw the other day that Bush and Live are touring together to celebrate 25 years of their seminal 90's releases of 'Sixteen Stone' and 'Throwing Copper' respectively. I've seen both acts separately in the past. couple this with Smashing Pumpkins and Noel and....
Queue up the 90's nostalgia this summer!

It explains why people find the pairing odd, especially to the people on this forum not from the US. Oasis were a much bigger, international phenomenon during the 90's. That being said, SP is probably more widely known in the US, especially than Noel by himself. I mean if ur gonna tour the USA why not join forces with a band that was huge here. Saw them last summer. Sold out at MSG. Great show. Looking forward to another go this summer. I guess this is obviously a tour designed for US audiences. I know a few people at work that caught them live on that tour and they all say they were fantastic as well. Man, I'm getting more and more pumped for this show every day !! 👍👍

Band was tight and Billy literally sounds the same as he did in 1996. Do his vocals ever age?

Plus we're renting a limo for the night! 😎👍

Pumpkins 80 min.

Finally took a look at the ticket market. Being in DC, Camden and Merriweather make sense. Pretty pricey if you wanna be in first 30 rows.
As someone mentioned “TM” a racket...we should pair up w/ Pumpkin fans and swap seats for each set! Pay big $$$ for some nice seats, enjoy Noel, then swap-out and watch Pumpkins from lawn. Any takers??? Ha.
The Pumpkins are decent and interest me...but w/o new music from Noel...I don’t know if it’ll be that great. I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t new music...and this is just second leg of the MOON tour. However, makes sense the label would DEMAND something be new be available, right?
Anyways...the ultimate story seems to be...the Pumpkins obviously sold alotta tixs for their reunion tour, which was shocking to me. Billy can get that money apparently, so he’s back at it w/o new music as well.
Verdict: think i’ll Wait and settle for lawn/after-market closer to gigs.

I paid $200 for Merri, (which TM is now charging $400). I'll gladly give up my seat (center, five rows up in sec 200, overlooking the floor section), to a Pumpkins fan for free. I'll hand it to you on the way out, no strings attached. Just tell me the fastest/best way to get to the parking lot and out of the mess, and you're in.

I’m watching the SP concert from last year and keep getting this vision of Noel running into Billy backstage at the upcoming shows... Billy 6 foot+ tall in full stage gear and make up, Noel in the same plain jeans and shirt he wears every single day 😂 I can’t wait for the post tour stories.

Not sure how much the two acts will interact. Surprisingly most bands don’t cross paths despite being on the same tour. That might sound odd but it’s not.

I’m thinking about going to the Cleveland show, but I don’t know if it would be worth it or not. We’ll see.

I love the smashing pumpkins as a band, but I don’t know about him being a cool guy. Politically, I find him a mess. A regular on that scum Alex Jones’ show.

But I wasn't talking about his politics perse (good God can we leave politics out of ANY discussion anymore). I was talking more about the music. I find many of his musical views and comments quite interesting, and refreshing.

get noel out on the road now! we have to save him from himself or whoever he is running around with nowadays. did anyone see that soccer am youtube video? wtf is that all about? i'm scared for him. does someone have pics on him or something? who is managing him that thought this would be a good idea? maybe billy corgan can stage an intervention. this has gone too far now.
billy corgan will wear black leather skirts and a reynolds wrap capes but i've never once seen him play with a shit kasabian that looks like it f*cked travis scott and linkin park.
this is beneath him.

For whatever reason the smashing pumpkins were a band that passed me by. Picked up Mellon Collie today. Only 1 disc in but what a great album.
Also saw this video for the first time today. Billy Corgan once had hair!!
What a revelation. X

Billy Corgan once had hair!! What a revelation. X Disc 2 is more mellow, some great tracks on it : two 90s classics with 33 and 1979, then Beautiful, By Starlight, Lily (My One and Only)... And then you have the bsides (almost as many tracks as the double album) Man, you opened Pandora's box, there's no turning back now. Next up Adore, Gish, Siamese dream... James Iha both sol albums are great too. Then you have Zwan, which is pop Smashing pumpkins, thought they were unfarily criticized back then.

Randomly I already have the Zwan album and also an Auf Der Maur solo album. I’m that hip. But yeah, definitely will be checking out their back catalogue. I saw that Aeroplane boxset with all the Mellon Collie outtakes. Crazy. X

Do you expect Jess, Ysee, and Charlotte to be on this US tour? I know Jess promoted the May gigs on social media but not this tour.
I really hope they are because I think they add a lot and I missed them last year. Since it is a cool headline and probably a shorter set and probably more of an oasis setlist I unfortunately think it's possible they won't be there. They also probably have to focus on their own careers at one point.
