I decided to look in to this after reading spaneli 's comment in the 'NGHFB Thoughts' thread.

This isn't to say that NGHFB is a better album than MG, but it shows that from track-to-track you can expect a more similar quality of song across the whole album. Less peaks and valleys so to speak.

I find it interesting that two albums that overall rate similarly have such a variance in track quality.

Some of that is due to HC only having 7 Noel songs on it and TMWBTM has 11 technically. That said, TMWBTM is by far the most divisive Noel work to date.

TMWBTM has only ONE song (TMWBTM / 7.85) that exceeds the AVG (7.09) Noel song.

Personally, it would appear to me that people are soured by Holy Mountain to the point that the entire album is suffering in the ratings. I think most people would consider 'If Love Is the Law' and 'It's a Beautiful World' to be at the very least average Noel songs, but they currently rate well below that at 6.76 and 6.46 respectively.
