Women don’t gravitate towards STEM related jobs (as much as people would like you to think they do.) it’s just not in their nature for a lot of them. This is considered sexist thinking but the evidence is clear. And has nothing to do with women being discouraged from these jobs. In my university alone, nearly all of the scholarships in my IT major were given to women, to increase the population of women students in IT

My issue with gender is that people have never been raised in a world that didn’t tell them the implications of their biological sex right off the bat and demand that they comply. From even before one is born, they are a “boy” or a “girl” and society and traditions have a lot to say about what that means. How can we really know what “men” or “women” gravitate towards until people are raised in a world that doesn’t force gender norms upon them?

I swear to god, if anyone lives in the US/UK and says that this decade is the worst to live in, you have no idea how bad previous decades used to be. I’m 24 and I know how lucky I am to be alive right now. I know logically things SHOULD be getting better each decade but the reality is more like for every one step forward, ten steps back. And consider, a human can remember from what around age 6? So you remember back to 2000. I’m 42, I remember back to 1982, so I’ve experienced three decades and I’m telling you this one is shite. At least currently, I do believe we can bounce back and learn from a horrible 4 years. Edited to add: I guess what makes it feel worse now is that we know better and we should BE better. Yet the bigotry, inequality, and environmental mess continues. At least in the past decades we could claim some degree of ignorance.

the question seems kinda broad. politically, this decade is probably the worst. socially/culturally its the 80s. what a waste of time it was...

Depends on where you live and what aspect. Politically? Culturally? Musically? Fashion wise (80s, definitely!)?
I wasn't around, but I'm guessing that for the Netherlands the 50s and 80s were the worst. The 50s speak for themselves, but in the 80s there was a big financial crisis.

George W Bush era or early 2000's. Wars, energy crisis, 9/11 and the great recession.
The Great Recession was the largest downturn since the Great Depression. Energy crisis from blackouts to high oil prices. We all remember 9/11 and wars related to it. Many US soldiers did many tours and many lives were affected by it. Traveling became harder and more dangerous with terrorist threats. Hurricane Katrina was horrible. The housing crash and job loss. US trade agreements from WTO took affect jobs were shipped out. Dot-com bubble just happened. The transition was still happening from analog lifestyle to digital.

I feel we’ve rolled seriously back as a society here in the US. With Trump, rampant open rasicm, sexism, bigotry, and general hate mongering, this decade takes the cake. I never thought we’d see the day were fucking Nazis were making a comeback and Republicans were singing the praises of Russia. Absolute madness You're not wrong. At some point I'm gonna have to right the world since no one else will.....I'm like Jesus, except I'm real - I even look the western world's version of Jesus.....blue, kind eyes, light brown hair and really good looking.... Thanks.

The 1950s gave us boomers and has therefore been the most damaging.

It wasn't an easy ride, especially in your early 20's. the plight of a young, white (im guessing) man in the US during the new millenium...i can only imagine the hardships you had to endure. thats a joke, just to be clear. i agree with your points, but its all relative to ones environment. i was more trying to say that americas worst decade isnt necessarily the worst decade.

I'd say 2000-2010 was the worst for music. This one has to be the worst since the 70's in other aspects though.
Where I live we seem to be living in a right wing lunatics paradise. Extreme competition for even the most basic, undignified jobs. Steady and frequent cuts to workers rights. Rising homelessness, a growing divide between classes, circumstance forcing people into working demeaning jobs with unsociable hours and low pay which is great for business owners and higher ups. Issues like immigration, rising crime and drug use and the PC movement doing their jobs of distracting/enraging vast swathes of people from the real issues and the real evils plaguing humanity. Etc.
It's an especially shit time to be a 'have not' right about now, wherever you are in the world. Feels like we're inching ever closer to a Metropolis like dystopian nightmare.
