I think DOYS has a good reputation on this forum.
Yes, Noel fucked the second half over to spite Liam fucking off to get married. And yes, we all have developed our own DOYS tracklisting that would have propelled DOYS to break into the holy trilogy (DM-WTS-BHN). But those complaints aside, most on here would say DOYS is a good, respectable album.
But I do understand that there are those who rank DOYS amongst the worst ever Oasis albums. And I'm interested in understanding why. Especially if you consider DOYS worse than HC.
I think DOYS is a good album. Go on, change my mind.

Liam left Los Angeles in March 2008 while mixing and doing vocals with Dave Sardy. He flew back to England to marry Nicole. Noel says the vocals for Come On Outside (was gonna be first single) and Record Machine were either never completed or attempted. Noel then went with tracks that were finished. High Horse and Ain’t Got Muffins.

Bag It Up The Turning Waiting for the Rapture The Shock of the Lightning I'm Outta Time Lord Don't Slow Me Down (Liam) Falling Down To Be Where There's Life" (A Richard Fearless Production) Ain't Got Nothin Boy with the Blues Soldier On (with at least a minute cut off) And it's a much better album imo, i've tried to keep songs from round that time that didn't end up as Noel/Beady Eye songs otherwise i'd have Record Machine with Liam vocals (still a crime we ended up with the dross version on NGHFB as when I heard the demo I thought that was made for Liam to belt out but Noel's is crap ) replacing Soldier On and IIRC Four Letter Word was written for this album session (if i'm wrong correct me though but pretty sure I heard Andy say it was one of 5 he did for the album) so swap that for AGN

Amazing album! First half is mind blowing! The Turning should have been a single!

Four Letter Word is biblical. The Roller is pretty good. Better than a lot of what was on DOYS. It could have been as good as DBTT!

The Roller had its time and place. It should have gone on Heathen Chemistry. Maybe even DBTT. By 2008, the moment was gone.

DOYS is my favourite post-BHN Oasis album, no need to change your mind.

DOYS is my favourite post-BHN Oasis album, no need to change your mind. Yes, but is it actually a good album? I would trimm a bit of TBWTL and Soldier On if we're honest. Muffins and Nature of Reality are good riffs that go nowhere.

It's good - not perfect. Most albums are not.

It's good - not perfect. Most albums are not. That’s a very underrated yet true thought. Most, if not all albums are flawed and far from perfect.

Can someone please explain the Lennon quote to me at the end of I’m outta time? I never understood the meaning of it. They weren't happy with just having a super Lennon-like song on there, so they had to basically make it a parody by adding a completely unrelated quote that in no way has anything to do with the theme of the song.

Noel said if they were gonna pay for that Lennon sample they should have at least turned up the volume to a decent level.

The Twiggy and Sardy Remix is much better than the studio release - it fits better with the groove concept, and removed the unnecessary Lennon quote.

I did like it live. I also really love the Twiggy remix of "Falling Down".

My least favourite Oasis album with big disappointment. The lead up to the album had me super super excited. The Abby Road news. The band shots from the studio that winter. Noel's big boasting claims of a new direction and sound for this LP. The Falling Down Chemical Brothers remix, the short drum tease for TSOTL and finally the new single TSOTL and later free download of Falling Down. It all felt like prosperous times............

Up until To Be Where There's Life I love it. The second half of the album feels like Noel allowing the rest of Oasis to crash the plane with no survivors.

Probably my third favorite Oasis album (which I know is sacrilegious to say.) I love the first half of the album, it’s very apocalyptic and I love the grooves on it. I know it’s standard to have BHN in your Top 3, but I can’t get through that whole album without getting a massive headache from the awful production

I defended it to the hilt when it first came out. Felt like I was a lone voice at times. I was properly buzzing off it and just could't work out why everyone else seemed so indifferent.
It's not as good as I thought it was back then, but it's not as bad as people made out at the time. For me it's comfortably the 4th best oasis album. IF TBWTL was recorded like the live version and Noel Swapped Aint Got Nothin and Nature Of Reality with any of Come On Outside, Four Letter Word, Dream On or Record Machine I think it would even squeeze past BHN.

Here's another argument for the DOYS defenders: Soldier On being their best album closer post '95.

I find DOYS a rather neutral album, neither here nor there for me, quite forgettable. However TSOTL, The Turning and Falling Down are bangers and TBWTL was great live.
