Hey friends,
Came across this just now. Wondering what you guys make of it.
Based solely on this video, Noel is a better live performer. But I feel this cherry picked video misses out some hugely important points.
These performances are taken from different eras in the Gallagher saga:
By this stage, Noel has learned how to use his voice and tailored the songs to fit his vocals and style. His performances are smooth.
The Liam videos are taken from a period that (whilst displaying a resurgent Liam) shows him performing the Oasis classics as they were written, in their original key, with their original instrumentation (albeit with less suitable musicians). Songs which are being performed true to the style in which they were written, but at a point in Liam's life where his vocals have suffered from years of hard graft and singing songs arguably a step above his natural range.
Having seen both live, what stands out in a Liam gig is his raw presence and enegry, irrespective of his capability to hark back to his younger self.
Being a mostly fence sitting Gallagher fan and loving both, I can't help but feel to an outsider this is an unfair representation of both. We all remember the days when Noel struggled on his own live.
What do you reckon?

The one and only thing that matters is how much you enjoy the gig. Live shows are for the people there, not the people watching the next day on Youtube. It used to wind me up when people would analyse Liam's voice based on Youtube videos shot on a phone when you could see the people who were actually there were having the time of their lives.

I once took a bird to an Oasis gig. She said she couldn't take her eyes off Liam. I said well he just stands there like a wind-up doll. She said he was a living doll. I asked what she thought of Noel; it took her awhile to come off the glaze and say, "Oh, that little gnome guy?" I didn't get lucky that night.
