Surely he knows of this person - if she was friends with Tim Abbot, she would have still been, in some ways, part of the fold for another three or four years, even if Noel never saw her again. But if she and others are claiming her inspiration in some of the most iconic aspects of Oasis, it's not surprising that Noel would in some ways position her as an insignificant and forgetting figure in the Oasis story beyond that fact that he wrote a great song while being with her. |

Noel purposefully didn't reveal her name back in the 90s because he wanted to protect her from media and fan attention, but now he's so old he has actually forgotten it.

I mean, we all know Noel loves to exaggerate, but he's always said he can't remember her name.
You can look at a picture of someone and recognise them without remembering their name, surely?

Having heard the story in the 90s and then seeing it again in the documentary, this was always my view point as well. But reading that NME article changes things a bit. Watching the documentary, I remember thinking to myself, it would be interesting if a reporter or documentarian tracked this person down but unless she came forward, it would be impossible. However, as it turns out, they knew exactly who she was. And part of this may have to do with her continued association with Oasis in some tangential way. As she has suggested, the two remained in contact after Noel left San Francisco, albeit briefly; she became friends with one of Noel's associates; and, apparently, she may have inspired the title behind Noel's most successful work. Given the way the story is usually told, that she was a kind of weekend fling that Noel had to get away from things, sort out what he wanted to do band-wise, and write Talk Tonight, it would stand to reason that he would forget her name and what she even looked like. That, though, becomes a bit more difficult to accept with the more info that you find out. However, it is possible that Noel has completely forgotten her. He does seem like a bit of a distanced person and it wouldn't be completely out of character. But given all we know, I don't think we can easily conclude, "of course he forgot her!" However, I don't see that as a reason to start calling him a liar. |

I'd hate to be the kind of creepy person who talks about a celebrity like he knows him, but Noel has always been a liar. A lot of different people have described him that way along the years, there are some interesting stories about Noel being a child on Tony's book on which this matter is discussed.

Sad! And what I meant by my reply is MAYBE the director didn't have the picture at the time of the interview. Also, you're saying it's clearly a lie based on the fact that the director would've shown him a picture? And you're taking for granted that seeing a picture of the girl would magically make his memory come back? Lastly you're obliterating the fact that Noel was stoned or pissed most of the time in that era and doesn't remember much anyway about an even that happened 22 years prior. But hey if you want to tell yourself that he's lying and make it a fact in your head, then go ahead. |
