I've discovered some really cool albums and bands through previous incarnations of this thread, so let's keep the tradition going! 2017 was a brilliant year for music in my book, a lot of my favorite bands and artists have released some gorgeous records and tracks. What's next for 2018? I'm adding, just for a start: My Bloody Valentine (the new album is deep into the recording process, according to Kevin Shields) Johnny Marr (third solo album coming in Spring)

It will be intresting to see what direction Arctic Monkeys takes with their next album. If it's a new AM I'll stop caring.

>Arctic Monkeys #6 >The Divine Comedy #12--a double-album(!)
Other than that, I've not heard of much coming out next year.

Last EP in the trilogy by Nine Inch Nails following Not The Actual Events and Add Violence Young Fathers' third album That Massive Attack album that was due out in 2016... New MBV would be nice, but then again, it's Kevin Shields' word on that I think Amorphous Androgynous have an album out this year (or next...) that they've had in the works for a while now ___ Not aware of much else in terms of concrete info, but there are a number of other artists that it's been a while since their last major release and so would hope for a release from (Amon Tobin, Stateless, Tame Impala, Portishead...), as well as some who have mentioned 'studio work'/'new music' recently (Operators, Holy Fuck) Anyway, odds of my favourite album that I'll hear this year being an album that's actually released in 2018 are kinda low. More looking forward to finding artists I haven't heard of/looked into before, and finding great music in their back catalogue.

I know Hot Chip have spent some time in the studio, but new music/tour dates might have to wait until LCD are done touring American Dream.

Embrace - Love Is a Basic Need My Bloody Valentine Massive Attack Kanye West? FKA twigs? Frank Ocean? Polar Bear? You know, in today's age, these kind of threads are more for guessing who might actually release an album this year rather than speculation on albums you know will be released this year. Because we never know.

I think it's about time that we had another Portishead album. Is 10 years a long enough wait?

Let's hope for some new guitarbands. Seems there's no new big guitarbands anymore. The Arctic Monkeys were the last big new one?
