I thought I was the worst person to actually gave WMWN 6/10 and gave Once, Shockwave and The River 3/10. Looks like there are more worse people than me. In the grand scheme of things, rating it any higher than 6/10 is a bit of a joke.
This is a bit of a joke, there are no facts just opinions

These guys have proved time and again they think of their opinions as facts. I don't give a fuck about your meaningless opinions or "facts". All I know I'm right at the end of the day. You might only be "right" on your opinion, not anyone else's.

Here's my 2 cents on the album after listening to it for 3 weeks now - not that anyone asked for it, I know:
it's got good tunes from start to finish, bonus tracks included; no song that I skip (no "Universal gleam" for instance) thanks to good melodies. Even "Alright now" & "Meadow", which many people here don't like, are alright to me, & I think "Be still" is a strong rocker, great riffs, better than "Come back to me" IMO: I don't get the hate for that one; I'm hoping to hear it live, should be a monster.
"Shockwave" works even better as the album opener than listening to it as a standalone single; same for "Once", I enjoy it more in the context of the album than I did before. "One of us" remains my favourite song, honestly I didn't expect anything on WMWN to top that one as it's one of Liam's very best songs with the guitar licks & the gospel outro, great idea to use those backing singers live as well. A very strong opening trio, then.
"Why me? Why not" (the song) is an obvious highlight as well, & "Gone" works fine as the album closer (though for me it doesn't top "I've all I need" which is near-perfect).
The other songs I think are good & pleasant to listen to, but lack a little something to make them great: "Now that I found you" is too simple, Liam's input on that one is obvious; verses are good, so is the chorus but it lacks a bridge to add another melody that would take it to an upper level. "Halo" is fine with that Little Richard piano like "Bring the light", but not that memorable at the end of the day.
The other songs I haven't mentioned yet feel manufactured for Liam but lack the soul & the depth of Liam's compositions on "As you were": "Bold", "When I'm in need", "I've all I need" & "Greedy soul" are what made that solo debut stand out & stand the test of time. "You better run" & "I get by" got guts as well; IMO Liam remains the best at writing the songs that best fit him (apart from Noel, obviously, but I'm talking about Liam's solo career).
With Liam's input reduced this time around (to what extent? I'd like to know more precisely what he contributed to each song) we get a slick, polished product that sometimes sounds a bit impersonal: Liam's voice makes them his songs, but other than that "Alright now", "The river", "Misunderstood" & "Glimmer" for instance could have been handed "as is" to several other singers had Liam rejected them.
Overall WMWN is a good record, I can & surely will listen to it in its entirety without getting bored, but it doesn't have the stature of "As you were". I wish next time Liam gets to write more of the third album.

Had a go at one of my favourites from the album. Apologies for the out of sync video and audio, something must of gone wrong rendering the video as it was perfect before that. Anyway, cheers for listening!

After one more listen, I give this album 1/10 because it is absolutely unlistenable. Yes, few songs are very good but if look at album as one piece of art, it's shit and meaningless. I feel like I am listening 2000s commercial euro pop, I walk affraid that someone might hear what sound is coming out of my headphones. From Liam's debut album there are three songs that I still listen to every now and then. While I find about half of the songs on WMWN to be good or decent, I don't think I will find myself listening to any of them two years from now. Both albums are hit and miss, and I honestly don't expect more than that from a Liam album, but it does sadden me a bit that this one didn't even give me one single standout track that I could potentially keep enjoying throughout the rest of my life. For the next album, I desperately want a more "dirty" sound, 2/3 of that and the rest more polished, instead of the other way round.

To be honest why me why not is just like every other albums that's been released since the early 2000's. There are the singles and a couple of good songs and the rest are not worthy of being B side's. Even with Oasis. We were lucky as fans of Oasis that everything released around the first 4 Albums, from Definitely Maybe - The Masterplan, would all of been singles in other bands. Its Generally four singles 2 good songs and 3-4 filler tracks.

Who the fuck would have released Magic Pie as a single? I think there is a lot of Oasis songs in that period that are great but not necessarily singles.

Like it or not it doesn’t sound like a single. A thing about bands of that time is that they had a few very good singles with very little to back it up.

Yet you have the avatar of an album that sounds the same from start to finish and has like two good songs (American Sports and Four Out Of Five) and sounds like Alex Turner just had a trip on weed and was Bowie's son for the recording sessions and that was not exactly a good thing, even if the record does have some interesting bits. It hardly feels like a AM album, Helders barely has any input and the guy is a stellar drummer. The last LSP record shits all over it and it is the last instance of where i feel Alex was totally invested, from a creative standpoint, on a record. I mean opinions are opinions, but rating this 1/10 is a bit of a stretch. Not even HC was that bad. A 1/10, just means no songs are worthy of note.

rickypaglaisRead that part about pizza. How would you rate the movie that is great for first hour and then its complete shit in next hour? Would you say, ok, first part is 9/10 and second part is 3/10, so, 9+3 is 12 and 12:2 is 6 so I will give 6 to this movie... When I watch movie like that, I feel angry after watching it, I think that it' s complete shit and I don't ever want to watch it again. This is thread about WMWN album, not about any particular song from that album. Maybe I just have different different perception of what albums are and what they supposed to be. That's why I always say that Be Here Now is shit and people get mad at me, but I just can't listen that album from start to finish just like I can't and I won't listen WMWN ever again from start to finish.

I just love TBHC and even when some song is not as good as previous one, I don't mind it. I don't analyze too much about verses, choruses... every song on TBHC is pleasing to my ears. And I didn't even like TBHC after first listen but I was thinking about that album so much, there was something so interesting about it and I had to listen to it again. And again. And again... That was never the case with Gallaghers, especially with Liam. We all know that very well. It's not a bad thing, it is what it is. For example, DM and me were in love after first listen. You don't go back and listen Gallaghers albums again and again and search for some secret meanings, interesting new sounds, try to understand it better... You go back and listen those albums again to have fun. Why was nobody attacking me when I said that Once was great at Jonathan Ross? That is my opinion, just like this about this album. I can listen HC, I have no problem with it. I can't listen WMWN it is so cringe. HC is not very good but it is Oasis, half of WMWN is like listening to Olly Murs. Maybe Olly Murs has great albums, choruses, verses...but I just can's stand listen to it.

As an album, it is pretty meaningless and unlistenable. 4/10, 5/10 or 1/10, same thing, if you ask me. Ofc that is not really 1/10 album but in my world it is because it has same status as some real 1/10 album - I won't listen any of those two albums from start to finish ever again.

WMWN it's not that bad. At least it's not Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino IMO, but opinions are opinions Ofc mate, that is just my opinion and how I feel about that album now, I am not saying that I am right or wrong. Tranquility Base fits much better with who I am now, when I wear headphones while walking, TBHC fits with my walking pace and the way that I see the world around me just like DM was when I was 19. I am not blind follower of Gallagher brothers, never was and never pretended. I am huge, huge fan of DM, WTSMG and TM and few more songs from other albums. But that 94-96 period is more important to me than any era of any other band. Style, clothes, walk, attitude, voice, sound, melodies, way of life... I've never subscribed to be a massive fan of Alright Now or Holy Mountain, I am 27 and I bet 27 years old Liam and Noel would also make fun of songs like those. Call me parka monkey or whatever you want but I still like more even songs like Universal Gleam, they at least sound honest and you can feel that Liam wrote them with his heart. Half of WMWN sounds like Liam covering Lily Allen's and Robbie's songs. Gone, One Of Us, Once, Shockwave, River are good or ok, I can tolerate even WMWN and Now That I've Found You. My opinion is that I can tolerate song like Now That I've Found You if it is the worst and cheesiest song on the album but horror only begins after that song and it last until last two songs. If you make pizza and you don't that have really good cheese, it can't be perfect pizza but it still can be very good. But when we talk about WMWN, half of the ingredients are shit and then when you are eating, whole pizza is shit, it doesn't matter that other half of the ingredients are good, general taste is just shit. Wait if you were 19 while listening to DM in 94, wouldn't you be mid 40's? Also during that 94-96 period you love so much you only would have been a few years old. Either way, I don't understand how you can't like both. I am 21 and adore Tranquility Base, think it is a great album to chill out to and definitely the album that was released in the past 5 years that I go back to most BUT I think WMWN is also great and has a got a lot of good tunes on it, who cares who wrote it? Each to their own but I can't for the life of me see why you would want him to release dross like Universal Gleam over any of this, IMO that is the worst song since he went solo. I think some people are swayed by the writing credits and think 'oh that doesn't sound like Liam', when a lot of time they just think that in retrospect.
