I swear some people here (and on reddit) would bash WTSMG if it came out these days. Of course I'm not implying anything by the comparison, other than your same lame criticisms could apply to the first oasis albums. You'd be like: Hello - the verses and the bridge are as mediocre as it gets. the chorus is okay-ish. 6.33 Roll With It - Too poppy. Not for me 4.31 Wonderwall - it's pure cringe. the lyrics are awful. what the hell is a wonderwall?. 5.56 Don't Look Back In Anger - good one! the melody in the verses is lovely. 8.0 Hey Now - it's a bit annoying and too long. 5.11 Untitled. - wtf no words? 3.12 Some Might Say - cool vibe. i like it! 7.13 Cast No Shadow- fuck me, the verses, the synthie (? solo and the bridge are so john lennon! funnily enough, i fancy the song. it's lovely. 8.0 She's Electric- falsetto? horrible lyrics. What is this song about anyway? Getting your cousin pregnant? it's a bit forgettable. 6.43 Morning Glory- hello part 2, just more boring. it has "skip!" written all over it. 5.75 Untitled - the melody is not there, but it's still in the okay-ish range. the no talking part is a bit weird. 6.75 Champagne Supernova - i'm undecided. it could be a boring stone roses song. lazy lyrics rhyming HALL with CANNONBALL. 6.75 overall it's pretty meh. It's funny because it's true.

So, I gave a quick listen to the leak, I thought it was good but a bit... Basic? I don't know how to explain it Said that, I didn't think it was a bad album, and I'll surely give it another try before going to bed

Now That I've Found You up first! Brilliant that mate, really like how you've slowed down the tempo a bit and made it a bit more melancholy too! Absolutely love this tune. Tracks 4-6 for me are just excellent, with One Of Us also on that level, and Gone not far behind. Thanks for the kind words man. igotflair tomlivesforever Much appreciated! I Built The Moon Love your cover mate! Really good job, listened to it a couple times!

As we're heading into the Why Me Why Not era, I just want to express how good the As You Were era was.

The next few hours are gonna kill me. I've done what I did for AYW: Listened to a few clips to get a feel for the album, while trying to save the full listen for release day. Bit harder this time around. And yet here I am, salivating over reviews I can't put into proper context yet. Same here, I'm waiting for the release like I did for AYW and I think I've read every review posted here. To make the wait a bit less painful I downloaded the leak and listened just one song. It couldn't be one of the big ones, so I chose Be Still. Not bad but definitely the weakest from what I've heard so far. Would it help to temper your expectations if I told you Be Still is my favourite non-single on the album?

Shockwave - I wasn't a big fan of this one when it came out, and I still think the same It's okayish, nothing more
One Of Us - Well built, meaningful lyrics and a beautiful melody, not the masterpiece everyone talks about tho
Once - Maybe a bit too "basic" with the strings, the acoustic guitar and all that, it's not that bad but tries a bit too hard to be emotional
Now That I've Found You - One of my faves , energetic and with some great vocals
Halo - I like the start with the piano and that, but then I wanted it to go in a compeltely different direction, as it is it sounds like a Beady Eye album track
Why Me? Why Not. - I've read it getting a bit slated, but I love it, it's the kinda mood I was looking for and didn't find in some of the other songs, it's melodic, but neither unnecessarily loud nor too mellowed
Be Still - Single material imo, I like it a lot
Alright Now - Starts as a meh, then it gets better and better, love the sound
Meadow - Some interesting musical choices and a strong Beatles influence, but nothing about it got really stuck in my head
The River - Forgettable
Gone - Many things here make it sound like something new for Liam, not a top top tune, but the perfect closer nonetheless
Overall it's a good 7/10 after a second listen, I have to say my expectations were a bit higher after reading yours and the critics reviews, but there are 4-5 songs here that I'm sure I'll keep playing over time, and the album as a whole flows quite well, although I think they played it overly safe with some of the tunes and it didn't pay off

My review
Shockwave - It's quite underwhelming. They were going for another Wall of Glass but don't get there. The bit at the end of the chorus is quite nice. The middle 8 doesn't really work for me, seems like it's there for the sake of it. 6/10
One of Us - This grew on me after a few listens. Thought the production was way too poppy (The Natalie Imbruglia - Torn acoustic guitars for a start!), but it's a really nice melody. Really like the 'Heeeeey' from Liam at the end. As an aside, there's a lot of tweaking/editing going on with his vocals in this one - it is hard to sing tbf. 7.5/10
Once - It's very cheesy, meant to be the FWIW in the same way Shockwave is Wall of Glass. This is better than For What It's Worth though, beautiful chorus. Don't really like the start with the phased acoustic guitar. And hate the 'Once' spoken bit. Wouldn't be a Liam song without the word 'shine' in either, would it? 7.5/10
Now That I've Found You - This is very Radio 2 daytime! The chorus is very catchy. Thought the guitars were very Stonesy when I saw it in Hull, less so here sadly. 7/10
Halo - Wasn't a fan of this when I first heard it, but has really grown on me. A much needed sense of urgency after the softness of the previous 3 tracks. Decent production on this, I like that the drums come in after the first chorus. He's surely playing this live. 6.5/10
Why Me? Why Not. - Odd one this, quite a nice song - good chorus. But really sounds like it's not a Liam melody (or as I'm so used to them, a Noel melody) especially in the chorus. I've no idea how he pulled off the chorus at Hull, if he did that is... 5.5/10
Be Still - This is so obviously written and produced to be a single...and it doesn't quite work for me. The production is exactly the same as Come Back To Me, which I really like. The song's a bit too generic unfortunately. I do quite like it when Liam sings lower notes than stretching for the high ones these days, and this song's full of it. 6/10
Alright Now - Very Lennon-solo this. Not huge on this one - quite like the 'pinball lights' bit as it's a bit different. Also really like the synth line at the end. Though the song just kind of peters out? Like Liam should have another line to sing but there isn't one written. 6/10
Meadow - From Lennon to Harrison...pretty forgetful. Nice production exercise, the solo is embarrassing though. Should have been a bonus track. 5/10
The River - Generic stomper. Very sludgey. Works better live. I do really like the middle 8 when he rhymes punch with lunch though. 6/10
Gone - The distant female voice in the intro might be my favourite moment of the album, seriously. Lyrics are a bit dodgy on this one, but it's a nice melody and a really good chorus. As someone else said, best use of strings on this album. 7/10
Invisible Sun - Definitely the worst song on here. The chorus sounds almost nu-metal. Sounds like American late 90s rock. That's not a good thing. Melody is poor, production is pretty bad too. 2/10
Misunderstood - This is a lovely song, but like Why me? Why Not. it obviously sounds like another person's song that's just been given to Liam. It's very well written but just a bit too MOR. 6.5/10
Glimmer - This sounds like a Beady Eye song (I mean most Liam songs sound a bit like Beady Eye but..). It's nice enough, I either really like the production on the second verse or think it's awful. Certainly makes it stand out I guess. 5.5/10
In my opinion - not as good as As You Were, just feel it's all a bit calculated with the types of songs on here, and while they're professionally written and have actual choruses, middle 8s etc (something that most Liam songs he wrote in Oasis/Beady Eye didn't have), just lacks a spark for me for most of it. It's certainly not horrific, just a bit lacklustre. There's far too much strings that don't need to be there. I'm not sure where he goes from here. Same again?

My favourite part of the album is the delivery of "Stand your ground and defy" in Why Me? Why Not.

The album is average, and although I'll listen to it again, I have no desire to do so. I can definitely understand that sentiment. I am currently experiencing that with Noel. It's a feeling completely new to me where Gallagher music is concerned and kind of sucks. I envy people listening to Noel at the moment who are being blown away by the new tunes.

The little guitar riff after Now I've Found You chorus is similar to Kings of Leon's Sex on Fire
