U2 maybe, the chorus sounds very Bono-ish. good call. i was actually thinking 'one tree hill', but what i have in mind is more dance-ish... the instrumentation and melody of the intro and parts in between the verses makes me think of something else, but i just can't place it. The drum pattern is very similar to The Prodigy. X

ILITL has really grown on me this week, after I initially thought it was really weak.
Still think the album is just one song too short, though.

interlude's 1 & 2 kind of remind me a bit of the outro of 'mercy mercy me (the ecology)' by marvin gaye:

X nice pull there. can definitely draw comparisons between that track and the prodigy. nope, i wasn't thinking about them either, but we're definitely on the right track.

I think its really good. only let down for me is it don't seem very long, like there could of been a couple more songs(not including limited editions and all that.)
His first solo album for me overall is prob my favourite. Some real amazing songs on there. Chasing Yesterday is great too but I prefer his 1st and 3rd album bit more overall. Although Mighty I and Dying of Light are some the best stuff he ever done imo.
I would give built the moon a 8.5/10

Finally got around to listening to my Japanese. CD Have Bought anything Gallagher related since 95 . I have got to be honest i think WBTM is rubbish to put it mildly .Noel has sacrificed great songwriting for atmospheric production . She Taught Me How To fly is the only song I truly think Is worthwhile followed by Black and White Sunshine and If Love is the Law and of course Dead in The Water which is really the only great Tune on the CD Very sad was looking forward to this Thanks a lot David Holmes

After multiple listens it has grown on me a wee bit. Ratings below:
Fort Knox - 7.5 Holy Mountain - 4 Keep On Reaching - 6 It's A Beautiful World - 7.5 She Taught Me How To Fly - 7.5 Be Careful What You Wish For - 6 Black & White Sunshine - 7 Interlude - Total waste of time that doesn't deserve a rating If Love Is The Law - 7 The Man Who Built The Moon - 9 End Credits - See Interlude

The interludes remind me of the instrumentals on the Berlin-era Bowie stuff. I do think though, as Noel said, the first one is in the wrong place on the album.

It is a studio version of DITW and another song short. Another song, agreed, but I don't think DITW needs more than an acoustic guitar and a piano. Reminds me how many people (myself included) preferred the demo/soundcheck versions of If I Had A Gun to the somewhat MOR album version.

A week or so on from the release and it’s still.....ok I guess? After the gut punches of Holy Mountain & Fort Knox before the release it’s not the disaster I thought it was going to be.
Holy Mountain is still rubbish but at least it’s catchy listenable rubbish. The interludes are a complete waste of space. Im not a fan of the chorus of Beautiful World & I still have a problem the way he pronounces “knees” on Black & White Sunshine. But apart from that I’m happy.
People are tripping though with this “best material since Morning Glory” nonsense. And calm down on the “open your ears to his experimental side” talk when there’s sounds akin to Chemical Brothers, U2, New Order, The Beatles, The Smiths and his own latter day b-sides!

Both Fort Knox, and STMHTF have been used by Sky Sports already today as background music to recent action, on Super Sunday.

Anyone musician in the world could've produced those interludes. I buy a Noel Gallagher album to hear songs.

Anyone musician in the world could've produced those interludes. I buy a Noel Gallagher album to hear songs. I totally disagree. Why do you believe so? Because they're instrumentals? Actually, I think they're too short. I'd love a Noel Gallagher album/side-project/film-score kind of thing full of instrumental pieces.
