Why would they do a set up about mistaking for Liam? publicity? Publicity regarding Liam? I think Noel has has a lifetime of that. He's just had his 10th number 1 album and doesn't seem in any desperation for additional publicity. Not that kind anyway.

It’s just a way of shoe-horning the awkward Liam question in without actually asking the awkward Liam question so all the casual fans watching will go “ooooohh they mentioned Liam” etc etc. It’s really boring and it was set up. Graham Norton is not that good an actor.

I'm not fussed either way, was just answering a question about who would benefit from planning it. Main benificiery would be Norton from getting a controversial clip from his show. Could have done it without Noel to try and get a reaction but in that case Noel did well to stay cool and laugh it off. Anyway I've no interest in another ten hours of questioning from you while you try and make out I'm some crazy person and you defend Noel's honour from imaginary attacks.

No crazier than I am anyway. And I'm not into defending Noel's honour either. He earns far more money than I do, so I don't care about his honour. If he started paying me some of his dosh, then I might! I just try to offer a bit of balance every now and again, but I appreciate sometimes it comes across like I'm trying to defend him. In reality I like each brother equally. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I prefer Noel as a songwriter to Liam, and think his new album edges it over AYW, but Liam is still far cooler as an icon, and as a rock star figure. Noel is nowhere near as cool. It's just that I seem to come across more Noel bashing than Liam bashing on this forum, which is why i feel the need to try and add another viewpoint occasionally.

Sorry for any confusion, I definitely wasn’t suggesting Noel was involved. It all came from Norton. Incredibly lazy journalism made to look like it was totally off the cuff, he’s literally feeding Jack Black the lines. It just stinks of tabloidism for the lowest common denominator.

someone posted the whole show on youtube Thank you for the video men!!! I had forgotten this is a forum about music, not about how a bad human being Noel Gallagher is and how Liam and Noel hate each other.

When Holy Mountain first came out I thought it was alright but nothing special. I absolutely love it now, such a tune!
Good performance from Noel last night.

The Noel hate is strong with this one... Hate Noel? I don't even know him. I'm just expressing my opinion on his voice and his writing. This is a forum. I thought i was allowed to speak freely. I don't dislike his voice. I just find really boring. His only quality is that he can reach crazy high notes. But to me he sounds soulless singing with a band behind him. He shines when he plays acoustically. And i think many will agree with me on this. In the 90's he killed the songs whenever he sang them. With a band i mean. Cause he tried to sing like Liam. Listen to that gig in 97(Dublin i think). He sang that night. It was awful and boring. Like a dad singing. Even if he is the songwriter. Liams voice gave the songs their energy and personality. You can disagree all you want, but Noel is no natural frontman or rock band singer. Nowdays he's trying so hard to play the frontman role. He's becoming Robbie Williams ffs.

I understand what you are saying, and many will agree with you about NG's voice not being able to give his songs energy like Liam did. There are a few tracks on his latest album that really would have benefited from Liam's voice, and given the songs that extra edge. Having said all that, there are many Oasis NG only band tracks that I really like - Step Out, The Fame, DLBIA, Going Nowhere, The Masterplan, etc.

Noel is a bad human being Nobody likes him His voice is shit His album has bombed Holy mountain is atrocious He is a bad songwriter Noel is evil. Noel does devil worshipping in his spare time. Noel drinks the blood of dead goats. Noel has 666 on his head somewhere, but his hair is so thick no one ever sees it. Noel pushes dogs off apartment block roofs. Noel demanded that David Holmes be tied up, so Noel could thrash him with a large stick ever single day they were working together. Noel really is the devil.

Agree with staged publicity etc. I’d just be really surprised if Noel agreed to stage something that brought Liam into the equation and even more so that it was to do with mistaking him for Liam. Could be wrong of course

That night, they presumably only found out that Liam couldn't sing a few hours before the gig. So the stage was set, literally. With all the pomp of the BHN tour, the whole build-up to the gig and with all the fans anticipating a rock concert, what else was he to do other than to try and deliver the songs as close as possible to the way people expected to hear them?! Walk out of that phone box, sit down on a chair and do the whole gig accustically, only playing the songs that were more suited to his voice?!? Criticising that gig with no regards to the context of the situation seems pretty unfair tbh.
