Kid A was anything but instant and it's one of the best albums of all time so I don't buy this 'it's a grower therefore it isn't great' nonsense i don't get the praise for Kid A, it was nothing new and it only had 3 or 4 decent songs Oh it was a huge undertaking and gamble for the band. They put the guitars away, no singles, spooky artwork, loads of pressure. They ended up hitting a grand slam both commercially and critically. Its my favorite Radiohead album. Few bands will risk going down the rabbit hole like that at the peak of their powers and fame. |

i don't get the praise for Kid A, it was nothing new and it only had 3 or 4 decent songs I think partly it was because it was a huge departure from such a successful album like OK Computer. When you consider how much of a success OK Computer was, not many bands would follow it up with something way different, it would be seen as suicide. It is a good album and they made it work. It has quality, i don't think it's as good as their best work but if you're really in the mood to hear it, then it really is good. I think a lot of people admired the fact they just departed from what made them so successful and actually did it well. thats a good point and i respect them for doing that. I remember when it came out there was so much hype about the record being different and far out and to me it wasn't. The b-sides from OK Computer where more far out than Kid A i always thought |

The melody on the verses of BCWYWF are intoxicating, absolutely love the sound of it, i reckon the chorus will sound alot better on the album track too, sounds like one of those that’s not easy to get across live very well

Amazing records, even if I don't like all of Amnesiac. |
