1-0 at halftime
we've been sluggish though. only dominated for maybe 20mins of the half
swiss setpieces have been very dangerous. seems to be a consistent problem with this england team....
1-0 is ok but we gotta impose ourselves on this game!

Maybe you should offer Timmy Howard the UK citizenship maybe you should shut up we won 3-0. hardly a great performance but still. Considering the heat and the fact that setpeices aside, switzerland barely saw our penalty area, we did ok. and i won some money ;D Owen was abysmal - he needs to stop sulking and get his act together.

england played shite. swiss played well, were unlucky to loose. 3-0 flattered england. i think you're being somewhat unfair to england. We created at least 4 or 5 great goalscoring opportunties from open play - the swiss created nothing. Their defence was terrible. They were very dangerous from set plays in the first half, but apart from that - they offered nothing. Unlucky to lose? give me a break england were scrappy and below par - they wont win the tournament on that form. But considering the heat and the mental effects of sundays game - we did well enough. btw - Haas was unlucky to be sent off.....but i laughed my head at the time!!!!!! ;D

Deep down you know it is not true either, ok so England didn't play as well as they could of but it wasn't luck! We were clearly the better team, Switzerland were shite. Anyway, even if it was luck...we deserved it more than anyone after sunday's game. Just because Ireland are doing so well n all

england played shite. swiss played well, were unlucky to loose. 3-0 flattered england. we played well, switerzaland had nothing. Us and france are the best in it, we should have beat france and no one else is anywhere near as good as us two, I cant think of one team. We'll get to the final imo and if we play like we did against france when we get to the final we'll win it, were the fuckin best!

Anyway, even if it was luck...we deserved it more than anyone after sunday's game. What does Sundays game have to do with luck? You were beaten fair and square on Sunday. A football game last 90 minutes you know, it doesnt matter if a goal is scored in the first minute or the last. You deserved to beat Switzerland but it was a pretty crap performance all round. Columbia you obviously didnt see Sweden the other night? You better hope England dont come across this man at some stage of the tournament:-

What does Sundays game have to do with luck? We missed a penalty they scored 2 within the last ten minutes...one of these scored in added time. 3 mintues added time - how the hell did it come to be this much, no one was injured! We played much better than France and lost.......... I think that is unlucky.

We played much better than France and lost.......... I think that is unlucky. Missing a penalty is hardly bad luck. No-one was injured for 3 minutes at one time but if the ref stopped his watch for 3 minutes during the course of the game for whatever reason, he adds it on at the end to make up a full 90 minutes. Im sure if England score a winner/equaliser against Croatia in the third minute of added on time, you'll want the ref to just disallow it? You played much better than France? They had more possesion, more shots on goal, more shots on target and forced more corners than England. Did England cross the half-way line more than once in the second half? If you sit on a lead against a team like France, your gonna pay for it. The way you lost was sickening if you are English but France won the game fair and square so stop fuckin whinging!

The way you lost was sickening if you are English but France won the game fair and square so stop fuckin whinging! you can debate the luck and fortune in football forever really, but under the circumstances of injury time and penalties - i think a certain amount of luck is definitely involved, although really we have ourselves to blame. split second decisions cost us dearly we did play better than France overall because we had a game plan and the French had nothing to overcome it. Of course they were going to have more possesion and shots on goal - we were playing defensively. and if it wasnt for emile heskey and david james being bumbling baffoons ..... it would of worked perfectly. but yes france won fair and square. we arent whinging - just disappointed at least we're in the tournament though huh? i notice how its the scottish and irish guys who are slagging england the most in this thread.... hmmm these grapes taste sour.... PS. As good as Sweden were, they were playing Bulgaria..... enough said

i notice how its the scottish and irish guys who are slagging england the most in this thread.... hmmm these grapes taste sour.... PS. As good as Sweden were, they were playing Bulgaria..... enough said Im not bitter about England, my Mother is English and my girfriend is English. I was just pointing out a few facts about the France game. The way England played against France is not the way you go about winning a major tournament. It just gets a bit boring before every tourney hearing how great a team England are, and that they are gonna do this and gonna do that, then when they eventually go out the fans and the media turn on them and look for a scapegoat. As for it only being Bulgaria, I suppose England would have put at least 6 past them then?...

The way England played against France is not the way you go about winning a major tournament. So, tell me...how would you go about winning a major tournament? I wasn't whinging....ok perhaps i was but who cares about losing against France now?! We will beat Crotia n easily get to the semi's i think....well whatever happens, we'll get further than Ireland and Scotland at least Oh yeah, you were right about one thing globe...we would have put at least 6 past Bulgaria!

You win major tournaments by trying to win games, not by trying not to lose them. It also helps if you dont have David James in the pokey... Yeah you've got further than us and our mates Ireland, thats some acheivment that. ;D

As for it only being Bulgaria, I suppose England would have put at least 6 past them then?... we put 6 past Iceland.... nah i do like Sweden, some good players - but to say that them comprehensively beating Bulgaria is a signal that England should fear them, is slightly unrealistic Vassel does well for england but i would of taken Smith and Defoe instead of him and heskey. Also i wished James had got sent off against France and given Robinson a chance to get into the team! That awesome French team fucked up again tonight.... Italy v Sweden should be a good one tomorrow - that may indicate whether either team are doing well enough to go far in the tournament
