Looking forward to this. Dave Baddiel is a funny guy.
False. Unlucky, but you've still won the car.

Mmm Noel was the one who believed cos he knew the songs he had written before anyone else?? Definitely get a different impression from Supersonic where it was portrayed that Liam was the one who had the belief in the early days! Possibly just a snapshot of time he's talking about there... Hmmm. TBH mate I've never ever doubted Noel was the driving force. Liam had the swagger and the frontman confidence yeh, but Noel knew he had the talent (songwriting wise) and nous to take them to the next level.

Yeah, undoubtedly once they got some momentum and Noel was writing more he definitely took charge of their direction and pushed them to become big. But in the early days my impression is that Noel was quite pessimistic, whereas Liam was the more optimistic one with the belief. Take Cigarettes & Alcohol for example, Noel said he didn't care that he stole the riff note for note from T-Rex because no one would hear it so it didn't matter! Once they'd made Definitely Maybe I think Noel grew massively in confidence, naturally.

Even Creation thought they would make low success career. Up until people start singing your songs and praising them, how can you be sure they are good ? You can like your own material, but in the end, what makes it a classic is your audience. In a way, Liam had an outside view on Noel's songs, was impressed by the quality of the tunes because he didnt write them. But Noel grew confidence when outsiders started digging them. Its pretty much was is happening to Liam now: he will grow confidence in his songwriting because As You Were was well received.

He had a notebook where he'd write down ideas and titles for songs and there was even a page where he'd written down a tracklist for a third album.

I will say that Ricky came across a lot more likeable here than he has for a while in my opinion. He was always an Oasis fan, even in the XFM days. Now if only he could write as well as Mackenzie Crook these days...

However, the David Brent film made me fall back in love with that character and then Gervais' latest stand-up (Humanity) really is excellent.

I wasn't a fan of the Brent film. I think Brent is best in the Office environment and there weren't as many funny moments. I've heard great things about his latest stand up though.

The Brent YouTube series Learn Guitar with David Brent is pure comedy gold as well!! "...it's equidistant 'tween London and Readiiiiiiiiing..."

I thought the film was absolutely shocking. I laughed twice, and one of those was at Gervais' career.
