So today I listened to All around the world at the boardwalk rehearsal which was in 1992 I believe and the single version from 1998. It got me thinking which one do you guys prefer? Personally I prefer the vocals slightly from the 1992 version as I love that raw element to Liam's voice but I also love the grandeur of the single version.

Boardwalk every time for me.
I liked Oasis most when they sounded like Manchester.

Be Here Now version. The only thing i might prefer from the other one is the vocals.

BHN version......obviously!
AATW (BHN version) is one of the best tracks Oasis ever did. I just love the slow build up, from the opening calm guitar strumming, to the grandiose, epic, sprawling, majestic, orchestra-filled climax, complete with the best ever nah-nah's of all time.
Definitely one of the most optimistic feel-good tracks ever.
The Boardwalk version is exactly what it is - a bunch of young guys rehearsing, nothing more.

I think I'd have to both agree and disagree with the last part of your post mate Yes they were a bunch of young guys rehearsing BUT You can just feel the potential and the raw energy coming off them and this is one of my favourite moments for Tony music wise - his drumming was fantastic

Genuinely surprised people prefer the album version. But then me and BHN have history.

Album version every day of the week,
Yes it embodies everything slightly wrong with Be Here Now but that song from its slow acoustic intro to its overblown crescendo with a fourth key change and 60 piece orchestra is the stuff most bands can only wish to achieve

Gotta go with the finished version. A pre-94 full demo though would be epic to listen to.

I know what I would rather listen to with my headphones on.

BHN version is great but the boardwalk version has an air of innocence about it

They had the balls to not editing the song for the album, it gives you a sense of what was happening at the studio at that time, and they even released it as a single, and it went to number 1, that is crazy.
I like the madness of the studio version, I love those nonsense drugged backing vocals at the end.
Liam: nanananana! nananananannanaaaa!
Noel: Na! Na! Na! Na! Na! Na! Naaaaaaa!!!
Liam: Please don't cry, never say die, naaaaaaaaaaa!! nananananaaaaaa!

In short: I’ve been trying to fall in love with BHN for 20 years. With little success. jesus, surely you must have songs on it that you like and i didnt mean to call you shirley I like a lot of the songs. And IMO it’s Liam’s peak, his day in the sun. But it sounds like it was produced by Groundskeeper Willie.

jesus, surely you must have songs on it that you like and i didnt mean to call you shirley I like a lot of the songs. And IMO it’s Liam’s peak, his day in the sun. But it sounds like it was produced by Groundskeeper Willie. The sound is why I love it most. If you want a proper, full blast, in-your-face, loud, aggressive, ridiculously upbeat, epic, optimistic rock album then stick this on - with the volume cranked all the way up to maximum. Oh, and plenty of booze (or coke) too while listening to it. Then you can appreciate the power that is Be Here Now! It was an album made on coke, and you have to be in a similar state of mind to really get the full effect. I have said this before, and I'll say it again. BHN is the most unique album ever made. No album has ever sounded like it before 1997, and no album has sounded like it ever since. The tracks are all massive, and sprawl on and on - 6, 7, 8 and 9 minutes in length, with each one multi-layered with orchestra-laden horns and strings, 30 different layers of blasting guitars, and crazily optimistic lyrics. To me BHN is the real party album, the real deal, far more than Noel's beloved DM ever was. DM sounds rather polite, shy and subtle in comparison to the legendary mammoth rock behemoth that is BHN. This is what Oasis stood for back in those crazy days that made me shiiiiine, and this album encapsulated Britpop and Oasis as the biggest band on the planet perfectly, far more than DM or WTS ever did. The best there was, the best there is, the best there ever will be!

I'm sure you can get the wife to take the kids away for a weekend, so you can have the house to yourself. Once alone, get the stereo on full blast, choose your drink of choice, and stick on BHN - on repeat! You will forget all about your problems in a flash. That's my therapy session for today completed.

The vocals and rawness of the '92 rehearsal are magic in their own right, but the song was always meant to be big, brash and grand and we got that on BHN. Plus Liam's vocals are still great on the album version.
