Those lyrics in Listen up for me are some of the best Noel has produced. And then Liam's voice takes it onto another level.

Would you put Listen Up ahead of Underneath the Sky if it was recorded and produced better? It's a big 'if' innit, but yeah, probably. It's less for Noel's songwriting than for the vibe they managed to create on the recording as to why I love Underneath the Sky, so if they'd been on similar form for Listen Up, crafting a sound that worked in accordance with the naturally bittersweet tone of Noel's outstanding melody, that tune could have really been something... It is already something one of the absolute masterpieces from Noel. Perfect as it is for me.

Acquiesce, Underneath the Sky, and The Masterplan.
But I could easily make an equally strong case for any other trio. The Masterplan may be a more perfect album than DM or MG.

If TM had been released as a normal album, the singles would almost definitely have been Acquiesce, Listen Up and The Masterplan. Stay Young, Fade Away and Rockin Chair are all amazing but those three are the absolute standouts.

I love the discordant sound on Listen Up. Always showed a tender beauty even in the most roughed up, reckless sounds. It's a complex juxtaposition of sorts, and sums up Oasis in a way.

Listen Up is what early Oasis is all about.

That's like saying who's your favourite child. Get lost! Although I always skip the Swamp Song...

I am not too keen on The Swamp Song, I think Round Are Way should have been in its place.
Their I Am the Walrus cover is biblical, they took a slow heavily psychedelic song and transformed It into a full guitars Indie rock blast, they took the song as its own.

The Swamp Song is iconic but...I would've left it out. I've always missed Step Out in the record. Love that tune.

1. The Masterplan 2. Listen Up 3. Rockin Chair 4. Talk Tonight 5. Acquiesce 6. Underneath the Sky 7. (It's Good) To Be Free 8. Half the World Away 9. Fade Away 10. Stay Young 11. Headshrinker
I fucking love their version of I am the Walrus too - but feel its unfair to put that in there. I listen to that more often than the original and probably in my top 15 of Oasis songs I listen too regularly.

Wow....surprised at the love for Listen Up. Its my favourite Oasis song of all so I'd always pick it, but I really didn't know that many people rated it quite so highly.
