You gotta be born with the trait. Not every Liam fan is a Liam Zombie. It’s elite level stuff and I don’t toss the term around lightly. Noel does The more a term is thrown around the less it means IMO.

This thread got so stale it diverted into political talk and got spliced up. We need something.

Were we "parka monkeys" when we were buying hundreds of thousands of tickets a year and making him a multimillionaire? What an absolute prick.

Holy Mountain in 2017 is not half as progessive as "Setting Sun" was in 1996. Still really dig it. Got a feeling, WBTM will be miles better than that boring adult rock album CY. ...and I'm a parka monkey.

The 'experimental' side of this album is how it was made imo, not in that it's going to open up new horizons of music. So people need to know what to expect. Noel's said that HM isn't experimental. It's just different for him. The album, likewise IMO, will be different because Noel has experimented with a different method of producing it.

^Same for David Holmes. The only things he said about the album were that it's up-tempo, fun, and rock n roll, not electro or anything. None of that reads like "experimental" to me. Maybe those first previews were a bit misleading.

Don’t forget my own term..............Liam Zombies. If you see them at a gig run! I cop to buying quite a bit of Pretty Green gear, but my hair is very unfriendly to any and all mod hairstyles. Closest I can get to an Oasis haircut is completely unkempt (the Guigsy), or shaved completely (the Bonehead). Noel, Liam, and Gem got all the cool hair. I've got curly hair mate, its a curse.

My younger brother has Coupe Noel. It's pretty much the only hairstyle that fits his gigantic head and his kind of hair.
He absolutely hates Oasis though.

It sounds different rather than experimental, based on what we've heard.
Still looking forward to it, but slightly concerned about wearing out the skip button on my keyboard with Holy Mountain

]In fairness, Noel has shot down any suggestions at all this was progressive or experimental. I didn't want to imply he did so. The posting was my own comparison to the first Gallagher/"electro" track.

The thing about Setting Sun, is judging from the demo version that got discovered a few years ago, that could have been an absolute belting classic on Be Here Now. It still however sounded great as a dance track. What concerns me is the idea that Noel would come up with one of his choruses, the thing that really sets him apart from the rest, and Holmes would tell him to write something different. I've no doubt Noel could have come up with a better melody than is on Holy Mountain, especially for the verses. As it is, it's turned out to be a bang average album outtake dressed up differently.

That's how it was or is this an assumption? Noel has said in multiple interviews that Holmes asked him to re-write atleast one of the choruses on the album eight times.

Thanks for the info, didn't know that. We'll see how things turns out. I like Holmes' stuff (although not as much as Death in Vegas) so it doesn't necessarily have to be bad..

Got to say this song is growing on me but i can't help but feel theres a much much better song potentially hidden in it? Like the idea is fucking great but the application was just sort of like that will do. I love the instrumental more than the lyrics or chorus.

Can't help feel it's a kind of ITHOTM song. Pretty good live and catchy but not the best on the album. It's without a doubt a grower. Probably a 6 or 7/10. The preview snippet of the album is definitely much more promising.

Weren't there supposed to be a few official remixes of Holy Mountain? Been a couple of weeks now since the single was first heard and I haven't spotted any.

Bedsides the instrumental. There's Andrew Weatherall and Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve remixes for It's a Beautiful World, though, and I'm hyped for those
