Whenever I click play on Bring the Light, it just puts a smile on my face right from the start. Not an amazing track by any means, but easy to enjoy for what it is.
Worst single ever would probably be Millionaire imo. Doesn't do anything for me.

She is Love/Get off your high horse lady - Much much worse.
Cant believe people dont like Millionaire or Iz Rite, decent tunes. Not groundbreaking but compared to She is love/Get off they're great.
Agree with Mighty I, its okay-ish just doesnt sound like a great Noel tune. When Noel writes a corker its amazing but when he writes a duff one its piss poor, no middle ground really.

I'm surprised about the hate for Millionaire, I quite like the fact that the lyrics are really different to anything Oasis-related really as they tell a bit of a story. Certainly better than a lot of the post-Oasis stuff.

Certainly better than a lot of the post-Oasis stuff. The verse and prechorus blend into an endless sing-songy drone that undoes the pleasantness of the melody. Every time it feels like the verses are gonna resolve into something, they just climb back down and start over. Musical blue balls.

As for the poll:Yes. There's wanting to make good old-fashioned rock n roll, and then there's writing anemic Jerry Lee Lewis pastiches. Horrible, embarrassing, forgettable. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

People using terms like absolute shit and disgrace etc need to have a fucking day off.
If you're going to use terms like that then dont throw your toys out the pram when you get accused of not liking Liam cos its overboard and essentially provocative to people who do enjoy them tunes.
Constructive criticism is fair, saying theyre the worst songs know to humanity etc is just fucking bollocks tbh.

Definitely. Second Bite of the Apple comes second. Flick of the Finger gets the bronze.

If I had to make a top 5 worst Gallagher single releases:
1. Millionaire 2. Second Bite Of The Apple 3. If I Had A Gun 4. Riverman 5. Who Feels Love?

4. Riverman 5. Who Feels Love? Wow. These are really bad singles. They are not bad songs. Just bad choices for singles.

Bring The Light is just too sketchy a tune, it's not anything downright terrible (save that for album tracks like Wind Up Dream and Kill For A Dream), just easily forgettable. Suffers from what a few Liam tunes do in that it sounds unfinished.
Millionaire and The Beat Goes On though are just an absolute disgrace. Second Bite and Shine A Light come close mind.

As bad as Bring the Light is, I think it would've worked as an instrumental. I always thought the vocals and the Jerry Lee Lewis piano were in conflicting melodies. I still really want a copy of Yellowtail, so what do I know?

I don't really get the Dream On hate. Ok, Sardy's production is flat and plodding, but I think the tune itself is really good, and I love that end section. Like with a lot of NGHFB tunes, I think it's good as is, but could have been truly great with proper production.

And it works well live. Probably not single-worthy though!

These are really bad singles. They are not bad songs. Just bad choices for singles. Exactly, there are better choices on both Chasing Yesterday and SOTSOG as a single than them two

I hate the song BECAUSE I'm a big Liam fan and I know what he can do when he takes it seriously. The man who wrote Born on a Different Cloud and I'm Outta Time doesn't get any slack from me when phoning it in like this. If it'd been his first song, it'd have been alright, a la Little James. But he'd already written an Oasis #3 single. He can do better, and has been since then.

I've said before his songs carry a tacit handicap, in that what would be a 10 for anyone else becomes an eight or so for him because he's competing against his own monumental catalog. The McCartney effect.
