I will be in the minority here, but at least it was something drastically different. Takes balls to drop that as a single to kick off your post-Oasis career. Is it a bad song.... well.... it's certainly not great.
Alternatives... a case could be made for: Shakermaker (there are better tunes on DM), Riverman (good song, not a good choice for a single though), She is Love (gets a pass b/c it's joined to Little by Little, but has no place on a single)

In the heat of the moment
I liked it live, but not too fond of the studio version, hate the nananananas.

No chance, Second Bite Of The Apple, Millionaire and Beat Goes On are all far worse

"Millionaire" is so much worse, it wins hands down.

Yes. The fact that it was the first single over Four Letter Word was crimnal.

I really like Millionaire. Shine A Light and Iz Rite are worse. BE was an incredibly shit album, Sitek's production was miraculous to get anything listenable out of it.

No chance, Second Bite Of The Apple, Millionaire and Beat Goes On are all far worse Embarrassing to think that a Gallagher was involved with these songs. Shine A Light was shite too - and that video was hilariously cringe worthy.

The Beat Goes On and Iz Rite are far worse. And personally I don't like Let There Be Love but it doesn't come close to those two in terms of awfulness.

The problem is not with the song itself, it´s not bad. The problem is it was 2010 when it was released and you need something fresh and with a catchy vibe and you have Four Letter Word recorded...and you release that...

One of the worst. I only remember the "baby come on" being repeated ad nauseam. Can't remember how the rest goes.

I remember this forum debating the lyrics (what else is fucking new) and the "its ecstasy" part was believed to be "you sex the sea".

Nah, I quite like the track. It's better than 'The Beat Goes On', 'Millionaire', 'Iz Right' and 'The World's Not Set in Stone'. Also I'd much rather listen to it than 'Sunday Morning Call'.

The beat goes on is way worse.
The problem with Bring The Light is that we were expecting something like Scorpio Rising and we got... that. I don't think is a bad song (it worked really good live), but as a debut single it's a mess.

Why the hate for The Beat Goes On? I think it's a decent tune.
But yeah Bring the Light is fucking abysmal, worst Gallagher track ever recorded.

They wanted to prove they were different to Oasis but as we've seen with Liam's solo stuff, there's an appetite for Liam singing Oasis sounding songs, but no appetite for Liam singing Jerry Lee Lewis rip offs. They had the perfect first single in Four Letter Word but blew it. It really turned a lot of people off Beady Eye and I genuinely think things could have turned out differently had they gone for Four Letter word instead. It's a much better song than Second Bite of the Apple, but it was a disastrous choice.

Exactly because a good first impression in this day and age is very very essential and they missed the plot completely when they released Bring the Light instead of Four Letter Word. And none of the singles they had after were mind-blowing so they had no chance of recovering from that debacle of a choice.

Totally agree, and similarly (but to a lesser extent) they missed the boat with the second album too by releasing Flick of the Finger as a weird Youtube shark video whilst giving Second Bite the proper single promotion.

No:
Millionaire is massively worse
At least it's an upbeat rocker within it, unlike Millionaire which just goes on...and on...and on.
Then there is something like the dour Riverman or even If I Had A Gun, which may have a good song underneath but the production makes it a long drawn out bore
