My review of Berlin show:
1) that's the best band he ever played with, I am a fan of every musican on that stage now
2) Noel often sings the songs very high (keep on reaching, beautiful world, go let it out, heat of the moment, even Half the world away...) and is fighting with the notes. I wish he had stepped down a key in one or two of these songs. The show would be better
3) the Concert Hall sounded appaling. You can hear more on the phone recordings than you could in the hall with your own ears
Whenever two electric guitars were playing chords together - the arrangement was loosing clarity and the sound was getting uncomfortable. The best sounding songs were these with Noel on acoustic guitar...
4) on previous tours I loved Russel's backing vocals. Now he is often replaced by Jessica. Sometimes it's great (Wonderwall), but more often I miss Russel's voice. Bring him back to the microphone!
5) The worst from the great musicans on stage was... Gem. Pity. Not much energy in his eyes
6) the show was on monday (the worst day for a rock concert...) - and still a lot of people came to see Noel. The hall is quite big, for about 10000 people i think, and it was 90% full.
7) when I saw Beady Eye, the feeling was "Liam and these guys from Oasis". When I saw Noel on his first tour, it was "this is Noel from Oasis". Now the feeling is , this is "Noel and his new music"
Fort Knox - good opening number but too long
Holy Mountain - people really liked it, although noels vocal wasn't warmed enough, some flat notes.
Keep on reaching - should be put later in the set as Noel had even more problems with singing this one (falsetto parts). Jessica helped him, but it still was not great. The live version is an amazing arrangement, but it made me realise this song desperatly needs another musical section. There's just this main riff, and the rock'n'roll part... it's a pity there's no third section.
It's a beutiful world - great singing, great playing, amazing song. The concert took off from here.
In the heat of the moment - great horns, singing good but not great, pleople responded to the song a lot
Riverman - the worst song of the night. Really. They play it too fast and the arrangement cries for an acoustic rythm guitar instead of electric. Also not very good singing in the verses.
Ballad of mighty I - very good and moving performance
If I had a gun - Mike Rowe played too hard in the intro. Didn't like it really. And I miss Russell singing it with Noel. Jessica was alright but it was better with Russel on backing vocals.
Dream on - one of the best songs of the night, a lot of energy, great horns - very cool and better than on the CD
Little by little - people loved it because they knew the song, but the vocals in the verses were hard to hear, and it was played probably a little bit too fast
Importance of being idle - very good sound, Noel did really good vocals, one on the best songs of the night. Seemed less familiar to the audience than Little by little.
Dead in the water - beautiful version, he should do at least one more song acoustically in the set!
If love is the law - sounded good, but wasn't moving. I was expecting Gem to play harmonica in the outro - he didn't
Be careful what you wish for - great version, it's an amazing song to hear live. It's all about the vibe - made for a live performances
She taught me how to fly - nice version, you could hear the scissors. Was better than version from Jools Holland I was familiar with
Half the world away - horns made it sound a bit like a "the beautiful south" song, good version, a lot of people were singing // PS another song that stepping down a tone would do good i think
Wonderwall - my jaw dropped. Amazing version. I wasn't expecting that. Very atmosphering version with great tambourine playing and backing vocals from Jessica.
What a life - i am disapointed that Russel doesn't sing it with Noel as he used too. Jessica doesn't fit this song as a singer - i think
The Right stuff - Great horns, great singing by Jessica and Ysee. One of the highlights of the night. It reminded me of the verve at their wilder days. Amazing
Go let it out - in the begining a hammond organ plays along wit the guitar. It was too loud, and very annoying. Afterwards a good version. A groovy one. This song made a lot of people dance. Oasis version wasn't that groovy. Good musicanship
Don't look back in anger - everybody around turned on their phones and started filmimg... Gem played a beautiful solo and the audience responded.
All you need is love - i guess it's a good numer to finish the show, because every musican can take part in it. But it didn't move me a lot.
