I actually feel bad because the day I got my picture with Gem (at the BDI gig in Philly 2011), Andy was there with him and I kind of ignored the lanky wanker.
Andy Bell's call to fame was the bass in My Generation. Which, in fairness, he does brilliantly - and actually looks cool as fuck in this video as well:

You deserved that after stone walling Andy.

Andy brought "Turn up the sun", which is a great tune, a nice album & setlist opener. Shame they dropped it on the DOYS tour (they should've ditched "The meaning of soul" instead), too bad as well Beady Eye didn't play it again. Just remember, for every good Andy Bell song in Oasis there is also another 3-4 stinkers right after.

That's my favourite Oasis era.

The most statuesque, boring, dull, lifeless participant that the band ever had. By a hell of a distance. It's funny because just this morning I stumbled upon this in related videos on YouTube

I don't rate him as a bass player. It's true that he played the bass like a lead guitar which can be a good trait but he didn't have that magic bass groove. Paul Stacey who plays bass on a lot of SOTSOG has it and that album has the best Oasis basslines (esp Gas Panic).
Turn Up The Sun however is an absolute tune! Which Liam delivered amazingly well vocally.

Andy Bell on A Quick Peep
"It’s an idealistic song about peace and the hope for a better world"

I quite liked andy until he said the highlight of DOYS was a minute of someone walking on gravel. Then I thought he was a pretentious wanker.

Noel has plenty of questions to answer on this subject in fairness, as he's the one who hired the stooge.

Thing is, I bet if you watch any Oasis gig 2000 to 2002 or so, Andy is the one moving the most and getting into the songs. Then one day Noel took the piss out of the way Andy used to move back and forth when playing the bass on TV, there's a video of it somewhere on YouTube, and after that Andy packed it in. He then proceeded to pick his shittest songs for the albums on top of that. Plenty of questions for Noel.

Wasn't it something to do with the sound of the birds being reversed I don't remember tbh. I'm kinda joking, I don't really hate him for it but I don't have much time for all that crap. Im a simple guy, just give me the songs.

Who are you talking about? Gem or Andy? Agreed. Gem dances with the guitar. For me is a pleasure to see him play

Why do so many people hate Andy?
He brought diversity to Oasis and to BE with an interest outside of the standard rock/pop that the other guys are into.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Andy before and after a Ride show and he was incredibly kind. Chatted with me like we were old friends.

Andy Bell was a spy for Coldplay. Noel originally wrote viva la vida. FACT

Bellboy!
I've met Andy a couple of times. Bought me and my mates drink. Loves the Beatles. Very cool in real life.
There was also the guitar playing in the Beady Eye Abbey Road session for Channel 4. Unreal. As I'm sure Noel said he's not a bass player he's a guitarist who plays the bass!
Oh and the Who Feels Love Video.

And yet he contributed some of the safest sounding "standard rock/pop" songs to both Oasis and Beady Eye. Kill for a Dream, The Beat Goes On, I'm Just Saying, Keep The Dream Alive, Thank You For The Good Times - urgh. (I'm one of the few who likes Millionaire though). But he's a nice guy, I'll give you that.

Nothing. I liked Andy in Ride, not in Oasis/BE.
