To be honest I was never expecting much with the reunion. Slowdive on the other hand killed it this year.

I was excited at first, became ambivalent and then just got bored.
Maybe because I'm older now but I just don't really care for The Stone Roses these days anymore and I barely listen to them, probably sick to death of the uber mythologising of a very good but not great debut album. I don't know whether this reunion had anything to do with it, but it confirms one of those old adages that some things are best left in the past.

I think this is a good thing because without new material their concerts felt a bit cheap. But I've never seen them live so it's sad to think I never saw them.
Wonder what happens to band members. Ian continues his solo career most likely but what about Squire and Mani?

Not a surprise. Their comeback was mediocre and didn't seem to have a point.
Everything they had to say has been said in the debut album. A masterpiece in my opinion.

Let's call it like it is. They got paid. They "came back" in 2012. It's now 2017. No new album. A bunch of high paying gigs. Hey whatever works.

Can't say I'm surprised... or sad.
This reunion was a total farce. They've been milking the fans for five years now... and all they managed to do in the meantime was recording TWO songs, one of which is an embarrassing piece of shit. From what I've heard, most of the gigs weren't particularly special either.
They shouldn't have bothered reforming. Some legacies are best kept untouched.

My friend was in Glasgow to see them last night and he saw them in Leeds earlier this week too. He offered me to visit England again to see them, but I couldn't be bothered. I've seen them on their "first leg reunion tour" in 2012 and 2013. I'm not lying, I was really happy to see them and enjoyed, but they can't do same thing again and again 5 years later. Like Lennon2217 said, look at the bands like Slowdive and Ride. They're not cheap skaters like Roses now became. Slowdive's new album is truly fantastic.

Bit of a waste of time this come back wasn't it really? Should of just done the gigs at Heaton Park and left it if they weren't going to do an album. Makes it look even more now that it was just about a payday for them which was obvious anyway.

Hmmm if it had happened after the first few gigs I would've been bothered. Now that it happened 5 years after their first performed gig and the two new songs didint showed much of their former brilliance it isnt that bad. Ian will carry on with his solo carreer and Maní will go back to Primal Scream. But I wonder what will happen with the other two...😗

There were still demand so in their point of view why not?

Don't want him to disappear in arts world again There's a Jay Mehler size of gap in Liam's band, btw...

If Liam can afford his fee and John is happy to play Oasis+the new Liam songs it's a no-brainer for me.

I give a pass for the excellent Shane Meadows Documentary Made Of Stone and Beautiful Thing which was a great song imo. Disappointing we didn't get a new album cause the stuff they released was good. They deserve a massive payday and at least we got to see 'em live, one of those bands I wanted to tick off the bucket list. Saw them twice and they didn't disappoint. Plus it just cements their debut album as my favourite album of all time. So I can't complain. Sucks for Mani though as he quit a good gig with Primal Scream for it. Although we hopefully get a new Ian Brown solo album, as he hasn't disappointed with any of his solo work.

"Don't be sad it's over, be happy that it happened" Whilst it does look like it means they've split up again, it's far from a definite statement. Saw that some people just took it as an end of show "Thanks for coming" sort of thing [NME btl]. For the record, not particularly interested whether they split or not. Will keep an eye out for what Ian and Mani go on to do though.

Although I decided not to go and see them after the reformed - wanted to remember them from the first around.

The bizarre thing is surely an album must have been recorded as I doubt they would go into the studio just to record two songs. If so why not release it?
They can't be that worried about tarnishing their reputation if they are prepared to release All For One.

They can't be that worried about tarnishing their reputation if they are prepared to release All For One. To be fair All For One isn't that bad, the guitar solo is pretty good. I wouldn't say it's anywhere near the standards of their first two albums though.

Heard this. What about the new album? OR perhaps Beautiful Thing and All For One were the only 2 songs to come out of their recording sessions.

They're wankers. These supposed principled men, who couldn't even be bothered to say anything to there hardcore fans about whether they might bother to put out anything new, and they probably won't say anything official about a split leaving the fans hanging who have bought them there new homes and cars. No doubt they want to squeeze a few more quid off merch before the fans are sure its over.
Pricks.
