From Ed Wyatt (ha ha!)'s blog: NFL Prediction Time, 2007 I am no NFL expert. I think I picked Carolina to win the Super Bowl last year. But I’ve got an opinion like anybody else, so here goes, with playoff teams in italics: AFC East 1. New England - It's not about Moss. It's Brady & Belichick. 2. Buffalo - Losman to have a breakout year. 3. NY Jets - Let's cool off on the Mangenius stuff. 4. Miami - Do you think Trent Green can lead them? AFC North 1. Cincinnati - I have Palmer in my Fantasy Team. 2. Baltimore - Great D, but that playoff fizz is stuck in my head. 3. Pittsburgh - Don't have the weapons to compete. 4. Cleveland - "Waiting For Mr. Quinn" opening soon. AFC South 1. Indianapolis - They won't repeat, but they're still good. 2. Tennessee - My surprise pick. Perhaps I'm an idiot. 3. Jacksonville - Not sold on these guys at all. 4. Houston - The Kansas City Royals of the NFL. AFC West 1. San Diego - Even Norv can't screw up this talent. 2. Denver - If Cutler fires, they're right back in the hunt. 3. Kansas City - QB is a huge question for these guys. 4. Oakland - A bad, bad team. NFC East 1. Dallas - I think they're poised for a good season. 2. Philadelphia - McNabb, Westbrook must stay healthy. 3. NY Giants - Coughlin might not last the season. 4. Washington - Campbell might be a pleasant surprise. NFC North 1. Chicago- Griese will lead them this season. 2. Detroit- Another surprise pick. Not sure why. 3. Minnesota - Defense is good, offense questionable. 4. Green Bay - I think they're headed for disaster. NFC South 1. New Orleans - Will be a good, non-fairytale year. 2. Atlanta- Maybe Joey and Bobby can motivate 'em. 3. Carolina - This team is going downhill fast. 4. Tampa Bay - Garcia isn't a miracle worker. NFC West 1. Seattle - Still tough, but the window is closing fast. 2. St. Louis - Provided they can stop somebody... 3. San Francisco - Not buying the playoff hype. 4. Arizona - Will be better, but division is - yes - tough. AFC Championship - New England over San Diego NFC Championship - New Orleans over Chicago Super Bowl - New England over New Orleans[/i]

Horrible news I saw the tacle and it didn't look any different than any other tackles
Bills' Everett Has `Very Small' Chance of Walking (Update1)
By Mason Levinson
Sept. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett faces a ``statistically very small'' chance of walking again after his upper spine was injured while making a tackle, the doctor who operated on him said.
Everett had voluntary movement of his legs this morning after surgery and can feel in all his limbs, Dr. Andrew Cappuccino said in a televised news conference.
The orthopedic surgeon said Everett is now in a ``deeply sedated, drug-induced state'' in the intensive care unit of Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and remained in danger.
``I have to tell you that statistically the chances of that occurring are very small,'' Cappuccino said when asked if Everett might walk again.
Everett, 25, was injured in a helmet-to-helmet collision with Denver Broncos kick returner Domenik Hixon in the third quarter of yesterday's National Football League season-opener in Orchard Park, New York.
He was motionless for several minutes before being placed on a backboard to immobilize his head and body, and showed no signs of movement as he was loaded into an ambulance and driven off the Ralph Wilson Stadium field.
Hospital examinations found that Everett had a combination of a fracture-dislocation of his spine as well as compression of his spinal cord.
Cord Intact
Everett, who was awake and alert last night, consented to the surgery, which Cappuccino said showed that the spinal cord hadn't severed.
``The covering of the cord, and the cord itself were completely intact and actually looked good,'' the surgeon said. He added that a thorough neurological exam of Everett wouldn't be possible for at least 48-72 hours.
Earlier today, Bills coach Dick Jauron said his review of game tapes showed Everett's head was in the proper position during the play.
``He made a tackle, that's what happened,'' Jauron said. ``It looked OK to me.''
Everett, who played college football at the University of Miami, was picked by the Bills in the third round of the 2005 draft.

Bill gets a $500,000 fine and the Patriots get a $250,000 fine. Also they get a first round draft pick taken away for cheating. Seems fair to me.

i think the commissioner's decision on belichick shows how much of a double standard there is in sports. the man who possibly was using steroids gets a worse punishment than a franchise that was caught redhanded videotaping other teams' coaches?
maybe it's because i'm a jets fan, but either way, belichick should be suspended for the rest of the year and the team be fined heavily. their amazing reputation is now completely in question, which is a damn shame.

New Orleans Saints football practice was delayed nearly 2 hours after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field.
New Orleans Police and Federal Investigators were called to investigate.
Head coach Sean Payton immediately suspended practice while the investigation was underway. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the players, was the goal line.
Practice resumed after special agents decided that the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

man the Texans are up shit creek without a full strengh Andre Johnson. They let the stupid Falcons beat them! Oh well 2-2 is still a decent record and I'll be more than happy if they go 8-8 this year!
