Why didn't Noel throw himself at the terrorists feet and sacrifice himself to stop this atrocity? What a c*nt of a human being, Liam would never do this and I'm in no way exploiting a terrorist attack to confirm trivialities such as my bias towards Liam.

Wait....?" Liam Gallagher Donates 'Don’t Look Back In Anger' Royalties To Manchester Fund Liam Gallagher has followed brother Noel's example and donated his royalties as a performer on the recording from sales of Oasis' Don't Look Back in Anger to the families of the Manchester terror attack victims. It was revealed earlier this week that Noel Gallagher had arranged for his share of the royalties to be donated to those affected by the attack, and now a representative for Liam, has confirmed to Pitchfork.com he has also done the same." He didn't write it, didn't sing it & didn't play an instrument on it. Puzzles me. guigsysEstring does that make sense to you?

It makes sense to me for current download sales for example as Liam is a forty percent shareholder in Big Brother Recordings Ltd who control the rights to it. I haven't seen the full statement but I would presume it refers in both brother's cases to current and future royalties rather than historical, although even on the original terms Liam would still have earned 22.5% of the record sales as per his circa 1993-1999 share of Oasis related income although you are correct that only Noel would receive songwriter based royalties. This situation is actually not that unusual in the music business or to Oasis themselves, Guigsy for example being paid royalties from 'Definitely Maybe' despite not playing a note on it (NG was on bass duties) or REM with 'Nightswimming' which has music by Mike Mills and lyrics by Michael Stipe with the two the only performers IIRC on record. These types of situation can be due to internal band agreements on credits and/or income division, copyright ownership and officially listed credits amongst other reasons. Tagging uǝɥʇɐǝɥ as well for this explanation

Does Guigs play on the b-sides from that era? Or is it Noel on bass all along?

Noel played bass certainly on the DM era recordings including b-sides, as well as taking drumming duties on occasion for example on 'Half the World Away' as recalled by Owen Morris on p289 of 'Getting High: The Adventures of Oasis'. davidjay has his excellent website with information and interviews with key people from the era which can be found at www.oasis-recordinginfo.co.uk.

He wrote ´´So Sally can wait´´part. Saved Noel the awkwardness of singing "So Jim'll fix it for you" in this day and age if I remember Liam's version of events correctly

While Noel played, overdubbed, some of Guigs bass work... can we stop the proliferation of the lie that Guigs didn't play anything on DM? Multiple sources have confirmed that Guigs played basslines do in fact appear on DM.

There are writing royalties and performance royalties. Noel made more than the others because he claimed all of the mechanical (writing) royalties. Those are safe from the record company taking out costs for videos etc. the performance royalties are divided via formulas amongst performers, but in the end generate far less due to the fact certain costs i.e. Touring, videos and other promotional costs are deducted from them.
