It's a bit Beady Eye for my liking.

WTF with these thread titles?
It's a nice little song. A few days ago I had written in another thread that it sounds like The Quiet Ones too.

Relatively speaking, Universal Gleam is one of the weaker tracks on the album. But I still like it...it's certainly better than Quiet Ones. To me, there is no comparison.
For some reason I just keep finding myself singing along to it every time.
"Gonna show ya how for reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!"
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I find Bold to be one of the weakest tracks. It sounds like a Beady Eye leftover from what I can garner so far *ducks* I'll wait until the studio version comes out to make a final verdict on it though. Just an opinion. To each his own.

UG basically sounds like a shit mix between Lennon's Real Love and Blur's Tender. Shockingly bad song.

It's a good song, sentimental and melodic, there's a better version in Dublin knocking around on Youtube.

Plodding piece of shite. Could do without it on the album. The Quiet Ones 2.0. I completely disagree

How can anyone tell quality from mostly crappy live recordings? I haven't listened to any of the live tracks, but it boggles my mind how anyone can judge at this point. Because the recordings today were really good quality and a lot of the new tunes sounded mega...Makes judging them quite easy really. Listen to the live version of TBWTL and the album and come back to me. There's no easy way to judge whether a song will be bad or good on a record from live recordings, even good live recordings. It's a different beast.

This forum has good things going on but then there are these kind of pointless threads too. You can like or not like something (or think something is shit) but do you really need to create a new thread for your opinion...?

I enjoy every new track that I've heard so far EXCEPT I Get By but I'm not saying I won't like it because the studio version might be better.
Also, Paper Crown and Bold are my favourites

Until last night that was the only of the new songs I could not really relate to, but I liked that version! Maybe, to keep things more civil around here, one could change the title to just a discussion about the song?

Even with good quality live recordings that doesn't actually give you a good idea about what it will sound like on the album. Wall Of Glass for instance sounds slightly different and lacks instruments which are very prominent on the studio version. I can't judge a song based on a live performance. I prefer to wait until I hear the fully produced studio version. This doesn't explain why you said I can listen to Jimi Hendrix but I can't hear him because I'm white.... Look at the cover of a Jimi Hendrix Experience album, two-thirds of the band are white! Thanks.

Less sitar, more guitar, Noel does some good lead lines, and the moment when both Liam and Noel sing "Dig out your soul," was always a concert highlight. Imo, that song is a poster child of the difference between live and studio.

I actually thought that was his worst vocal performance of the set. It was average at best, i thought he really struggled with it but like i said, i still have not listened to the song on the higher quality pro shot that now exists. I'd upgrade your speakers if I were you

Was never that keen on this song but i keep singing 'bring it on down...' in my head. Can imagine this song being late on in the album perhaps the last one.
Not bad at all though

Great tune, made even better that the most milquetoast person on the forum does not like it.
