Lisa Moorish played a lot of gigs with Drew McConnell apparently. According to Wikipedia. She was in Kill City with Patrick Walden who was guitarist in Babyshambles (Drew was the bassist). They supported Pete Doherty/Shambles a few times (he also has a kid with Moorish) and also covered one of Pete's discarded Libertines tunes, Hooligans on E. So, yeah, they probably know each other pretty well.

Been a fan since 2005 and I never though I'd see Liam singing this good, I'm speechless.

Been listening back today - the way he's holding the 'toniiiiiiiiiiiiiight' bits in rock n roll star with such power and no breaks/wobbles in his voice at all is FANTASTIC.

I thought Liam did a brilliant performance last night. Respect to him for changing to an earlier stage time on the festival and travelling back to Manchester right after already having done a full gig. Great, great vocals. There was something weird about how the band sounded thought, almost like there were just one guitar some of the time and not two. Perhaps that made it easier for Liam to sing though, because the band wasn't as loud as usual. I watched the first half of his performance live on my phone from the stream, then the second half on tv. Was a bit nervous for how he would do on the high notes on WOG, but he actually did a good job with them. After hearing the song quite a few times now I also get why some people have pointed out that it's a bit repetitive after the first minute. Maybe there should have been a guitar solo or something a bit different happening somewhere in there, I don't know. Still it's a great song, and the chorus sounded amazing. Still catchy.
The best thing however was the performance of Live Forever. That was just magical. Liam really shining up there with strong vocals, holding the notes, being the true manchester icon that he is, rallying people together from sorrow into love, confidence and togetherness. Loved the moment at the end where he walked to the very front of the stagewalk and threw his tambourine. He really embodied what we all love about him there. Great to see him burying the hatchet with Chris Martin, giving out big hugs to both him and Johnny Buckland. Speaking of, I really loved Bucklands guitar playing on that last chorus. Really made it something special. I've watched DLBIA from that night as well, and he really did a great job with the guitar solo on that too.
Shame about Liam's tweet this morning, not sure if that's gonna do him any favours. Even if he has a point he shouldn't say it himself, especially not on the morning after the show. It's taking the focus away from the positive things that came out of last night.

I don't get Noel. Ok, I can understand that he doesn't give a fuck about charity but come on, this was his chance to hang out with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Will.i.am...

He's already showed Noel up by doing what he did, if that even matters. Liam smashed it regardless of what people think of the Noel sitch. Should of left it at that. Last night was magical and is what needs to be spoken of.

THIS COULD BE YOU NOEL!!! BUT YOU DIDN'T GIVE A FUCK!!1 Seriously though, I really don't understand the backlash Noel's gotten here. If he was busy he was busy, he could have made certain promises to his family about this holiday or something, no work, no distractions etc and as others have said he's been extremely generous with charities in the past. All i was thinking was well done Liam, who did amazingly well, I don't understand the thought process leading people to constantly pit them against each other all the time. Who cares?

could we please not turn this thread into 'let's shit on noel because he wasn't there'. we all know it wasn't a good look for noel at all and of course common sense dictates that he should have, at the very least, sent a video message to be played. i would rather focus on the fact that liam WAS there, and he sang his heart out for the victims, the great people of manchester, and all of us here. thanks! I think it's important that we don't lose sight of the real talking point here - Liam sounded great. It was really nice of Liam to make the effort to get there in time. Let's not make this real nice gesture be turned in to something negative. I completely agree with you guys!

Wow, didn't expect that, the first time since maybe Black Island Studios where I've enjoyed listening to Liam live and he didn't make me cringe, he was holding notes, pronouncing entire words, still a touch nasally but here it was Liam with a touch of nasal instead of the nasal drone that if I squint my ears I can hear it's Liam Gallagher behind it that I had become used to, streets ahead of anything I was expecting, great occasion to pull that performance out on as well. Well played Liam, you did great man, I was worried it would be another Olympics.

-Let's say Noel shows up. Though it would be fantastic to see them together on stage again, an Oasis reunion completely overshadows the whole reason everyone was there in the first place; to pay tribute to the fallen. -Blaming Noel for not being there is a cheap shot. It's easier for Liam to show up and do this thing than it is for Noel. Liam is officially on tour promoting an album (which he did at the concert) and Noel has been on tour for 3 our of the last 6 years, unlike Liam, and is about to go on tour again likely this fall. -That being said, any sort of small communication, tweet, Instagram, video message Noel would have been nice. But no one should blame him for not leaving his family on vacation. -That also being said, Rock n Roll Star, Live Forever and Don't Look Back in Anger were all sung, and were all written by Noel. At this point DLBIA has become bigger than him, Liam and Oasis, so it's reached Hey Jude/Imagine/Let it Be status, as it doesn't matter who sings it anymore, it's an anthem. -Since Oasis broke up, Noel has arguably taken center stage. Why should Liam be upset that he DIDN'T HAVE TO SHARE THIS MOMENT? This was Liam's moment, it was awesome and no one will forget it, and it's put him back on the map as one of Manchester's greatest exports. Why is he trying to ruin his moment, and ruin a possible Oasis reunion he seems to be craving so much?

Actually got a lump in my throat when Liam walked out on the stage. Amazing performance. Everything that has made me root for the guy since the split was on full display. The sincerity, the open-heartedness, the charisma, and my God that voice! Even better than the very early Beady Eye gigs (which don't get enough credit here btw). He's really turned it around and I just hope he can keep it up as he gets back to full on touring. Was really proud to be a fan.
And then come the Noel tweets. Man... I really wish he could have held back. That's what the story will turn into now, when it could have been all positive for Liam. But I guess we'll always have to take both sides from Liam. I think it's the same honesty, openness and heart on sleeve nature that makes him hop a plane from Germany for a benefit that also lets his anger and disappointment come out unfiltered and clumsily.
Whatever. I just hope people manage to talk more about that great performance than about some unfortunate tweets.

I don't think Noel would have had any real interest in doing this regardless of his obvious sympathies for the victims. I remember him being quite outspoken during the live eight concerts, saying that playing a concert wasn't going to change anything and it was a complete waste of time.
And he was right really, it didn't.
He's not going to come out and say it obvously as he'd get slaughtered but I think he's very cynical about these types of things.
Whether thats right or wrong is matter of opinion of course but he's free to decide whether he wants to perform or not. It shouldn't be used as a reason to attack him, and I say that as a massive Liam fan.

Liam prob shouldn't have tweeted the Noel stuff. Not necessary. Does everything have to be a cheap shot?

God boy Liam. Even my other less hardcore Oasis fans are messaging me saying that Noel has become a douche. One friend said that at his last concert here in Toronto he told the crowd twice to make sure they buy a t-shirt on the way out lol.
Do I think Liam should have not said anything? Yes.
But do I think and feel Noel deserves a proper lashing. Absolutely.
Btw I got into a Instagram battle with Lisa Moorish this morning. We were throwing Jabs back n Forth lol

In some cases, sure. But have the forgotten about Liam's escapades? Picking fights, showing up to gigs (or not showing up) hammered or with a hangover, suing his own brother, two divorces, two estranged children? Being douche is half the job of being a rock star.
