Violet Hill was love at first listen for me.
I still remember the day when they released it as a free download single, it was around May if I'm not mistaken. Great times, the sun was shining and summer was coming. I must have played it on repeat all night, I was properly addicted it.
Top tune indeed, I'll be happy if it wins this round (although chances are slim I suppose)

When The Levee Breaks is one of my favourite songs of all time (the Led Zeppelin version I mean, I've never heard the original). If this doesn't win I'll cry. Start crying. I really really really really hope When The Levee Breaks wins so I can laugh in Mean Mrs. Mustard 's face.

Has anyone voted the last 24-48 hours? I'm just thinking that if hardly any further votes are going to be cast, the deadline could be set tonight instead of Wednesday night? My nerves are killing me, so I'd like to see the result as soon as possible

I voted a while ago, what did you vote for? Zeppelin, Dylan, The Who, Queens of the Stone Age and My Bloody Valentine. I really wanted to vote for Mr Tambourine Man but there were just too many songs in the list that I consider better. I voted for Led Zeppelin, Primal Scream, Sex Pistols, The Who and Happy Mondays.

Well I'll kick off track 9 nominations, seeing as I'm always deciding at the last second. So I'll go for...
There There - Radiohead Three Little Birds - Bob Marley

If we're just limited to two then:
The Cure - Just Like Heaven
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
If not I'll also throw in: Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand The White Stripes - The Hardest Button to Button Guns 'N' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine

I rest my case. And if you haven't heard the studio version, you SHOULD. I think it's in my top 50 songs of all time, and I get blown away every single time I listen to it. He was one hell of an artist, that guy.

He was one hell of an artist, that guy. Yes, it's a good shout. I'm no Prince fan and can barely name a track of his, but I had Purple Rain floating around on my ipod and it popped up one day in May 2012 (I can even give the date!). Outstanding song, love those squealing guitars at the end.

For my second nomination I may as well pick a track that no one will vote for, excluding myself Warren Zevon is a songwriter you rarely hear about, which is a shame if you ask me. Here's one of my favourites of his:

matt, just to be clear, for tracks 11 and 12 can we nominate any penultimate track or closing track, regardless of their track numbers on their parent albums? I'm seeing some people nominate album closers already and I'm wondering if it may be a bit early.

Rolling Stones - Dead Flowers Joni Mitchell - A Case Of You Neil Young - The Needle And The Damage Done

Just looking and comparing previous rounds.
Heroes was damn unlucky to be track three and up against Live Forever - it garnered a lot more percentage points than most of the other track winners. Any other round and it would have won.

was going to nominate prince - purple rain, and the who - won't get fooled again for round 9, but those have already been nominated. my alternate was neil young's needle, and that was nominated also.
fuck.

Pretty much the reason why I nominated mine early, just so I wouldn't be thinking hard about what to put in!

Here's one of my favourites of his: Warren Zevon is awesome. My favorite song of his was always Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner. Macabre humor at its best. This ain't your typical sappy singer-songwriter output, kids!
