As some have said, the demo is infinitely better than the over-produced, Sardy-influenced, steaming pile of dog shit that found it's way on to DOYS.
If they had tidied up the demo slightly for DOYS, stuck it as the 2nd or 3rd track then I think it might have just found its place as a passable tune, but it wasn't to be.

It's funny, when I first heard DOYS ages ago I firmly put AGN on the "good" side of the album while I never liked Soldier On, Nature of Reality or TBWTL. It wore off quickly though. It's one of those Liam songs that is 100% reliant on its pace and energy, because melody wise there is absolutely nothing there. The little drum solo in the middle is still nice, I guess.

Noel chose this on the album over The Boy With The Blues. Noel listened to Ain't Got Nothin' and The Boy With The Blues and thought "y'know what, Ain't Got Nothin' is more deserving of a spot on the album". This is a fact I will never get over.

Noel was saving some songs for him alone, so he had to choose between AGN, Boy With The Blues and I Believe In All.

I can't believe this thread is 3 pages long.

It's quite possible Liam insisted on it, like he did for ICSAL. Noel also likes to make the argument that the song has to fit the flow of the album and an uptempo number is useful in this spot. It's possible he was also thinking its an easy one to reproduce live to promote the album, as they just weren't "getting it right" with others.
Just a thought, not defending the song selection on the album. Though I don't dislike, i think it was better served as a bside.

Always surprised me how they "never got it right" live with some songs.
Oasis were hardly known for their complex song structures and instrumentation.

So frustrating that they never played bag it up and the turning live. I know Noel did the turning in a soundcheck just a shame they didn't play it during the gig. Can not understand why they never played those songs. Why couldn't they get them right live? They could have had some of the extra sounds or keyboards played via the mixing desk like many bands do

I think if Liam had been able to sing The Turning live, it would have been the first single.

It's all about sequencing. Plus TBWTB, just like STC and RM belong to DBTT. It wouldn't fit on DOYS. It's definitely not the same production.
