Disappointing cos we have MOS. One or the other, lads - especially in the live set for Christ's sake.
I like the screaming mental part. It's better than that fucking waste of space TNOR.

I don't hate it but it's really dull, like an early poor version of Eyeball Tickler.

How can you not like this?
The Meaning of Soul and Ain't Got Nothin' in the setlist has to be one of Noel's worst decisions.

The leaked version from the DBTT sessions is far better. It has far more bite. Just given this another listen at home. The demo is 100X better in my opinion, there is literally no life in the DOYS version in comparison. I can only assume that the demo version is a Noel/Oasis produced version and then it was given over to Dave Sardy who subsequently destroyed it. I encourage you to give this a very loud listen and tell me that in this form that it doesn;t deserve a spot on DOYS. I remembering listening to it on repeat when it first leaked. That May 2008 leak was the best ever I've experienced.

Whenever I make a best of mix or general mix of Oasis on iTunes, it's unintentionally 98% material from 1994-1998. That's a good and bad thing at the same time.

I just think it was put on the wrong album. I believe AGN was written following the night Liam got His teeth knocked Out in Germany in 2002. So I think it should have ended up on DBTT. I think the song would have got far less criticism if it was released during the DBTT period. It's not the greatest song, I think it's just an alright song. Must say I do like the guitar feedback during the first verse. I think the problem is that the band held it back and then put it on DOYS 6 years later, which makes it look like they were struggling to fill the album and ran out of songs. For instance; why was LDSMD on DOYS bonus disc, I don't think it fits in. It belongs with the DBTT period. By holding back songs I think the band lost momentum. Same goes for STC and RM. their impact was lost by the time they were released as part of NGHFB. I think the same applies to BWTB, it should have been released as an EP in early 2006 as originally planned. Another frustrating part of the band's history. During the DBTT sessions there were enough songs around for the band to release one album just from the leftovers. That was the original concept for DOYS before Dave Sardy's idea of a groove being the main idea for the album came about. That explains the mixed bag of DBTT era songs and new material. Personally I don't care when the tracks were written as long as they get released to the fanbase and not shelved forever.

But put into perspective it's not that often where a bands first 3.5 albums contain almost 100% great track. Even The Beatles first few albums were (IMO) only part good and some terrible songs (and not even all their own stuff). It's just a shame oasis fell from grace

Ain't Got Muffins is just code used to trivialise a pathetic song - I don't think there's any intention to ROFL every time we see it.
It's not just a bad Oasis song, it's an outright terrible song in general. Noel really makes me laugh - moans about kids going into Costa Coffee and spending a fortune rather than go into HMV and buy an album. Yet if anything's damaged the sanctity of the album as a work of art, it's Noel and his half arsed attempts at Oasis albums from 2000 onwards.
Dig Out Your Soul really sums that arrogant attitude. Chucking on wholly inadequate tunes that were originally meant to be b-sides (Ain't Got Nothin and High Horse) along with Gem and Andy's pseudo-philosophical Beatles knock-offs is an insult to the Oasis fanbase, and does more to undermine and demean the art of an album than buying a cup of coffee. I will only physically buy albums if I know a band/singer's blood and sweat has gone into making it, so thank god for iTunes, because if Dig Out Your Soul was released today, I would quite happily pop my phone on and merely buy the good songs off it. I'm not wasting my hard earned cash to pay them for their shit work, so fuck Noel and the rest of the band!

This really is a shit song, on an absolutely shite album. The second side of this album is the absolute rock bottom lowest point in the history of Oasis. Such a shame they ended their era with this garbage.
Beatles end with Abbey Road, and a breathtaking final sprint to a song fittingly called The End, and Oasis end their tenure with some of the worst songs ever written by any band.
DBTT and DOYS are an absolute disgrace, and I don't think of them as Oasis albums at all.

How can you not like this? The Meaning of Soul and Ain't Got Nothin' in the setlist has to be one of Noel's worst decisions. That's one of the worst edited live performance videos I've ever seen. What was the director/editor thinking? Waaayyy to many cuts, even if it is to the beat....

Just watched that video and it confirmed to me again what an absolute horrendously shite song it really is. How the mighty have fallen when they used to churn out live songs like this - Now THAT is what you call a decent Oasis song performed live.

It actually made me appreciate the song a bit more. One of Oasis' strengths was playing a track live and making it sound better, Who Feels Love is the main one IMO

AINT GOT MUFFINS represents Liam at his lowest. In a Munich bar, beat up and missing his two front teeth. You just can't make this stuff up. Total Spinal Tap. Total shit muffins. Do we blame Germany for this?
