Heard AGN today for the first time a long time and honestly think it's great due to it's over-the-top production and Noel's backing vocals. It fits the album well especially where it's placed.

I find it poor, but it looks good next to the rest of the second half of Dig Out Your Soul. Just a dull rocker song.

Also they spunked away TBWTB and had 5 songs that wouldn't even make B-Side material on the album.

A part of me hates this song because out of the three songs that leaked in 2008 (this song, Stop The Clocks, and Record Machine), it is the only one that ended up on Dig Out Your Soul when it was the weakest and the other two were far better and deserved their place on the album. Another part of me hates it simply because it is shit. it's the chord progression of fell in Love with a girl in 3/4.

I like the chord changes all the way through but the melody of the chorus is amateur as fuck.

I can tolerate the Meaning of Soul but to then stick this on the next album and put both in their live set was criminal. I quite like the bit where it goes mental with the screaming and solo, perhaps they could have had that as a snippet between songs on the album a bit like the Swamp Song bits on Morning Glory, but otherwise it is dogshite.

Makes me laugh that some are so sure that Marcus Russell and the management killed off the AA album when they seemingly were happy to release an OASIS album with this shit on it. How could a band of 5 record that and be happy with it?

The leaked version from the DBTT sessions is far better. It has far more bite.

It isn't a great song, but far from the worst Oasis song. The live version is great and this song is miles better than The Meaning Of Soul. (Both demo version are better)

It's a fantastic song, a masterpiece. It's the pinnacle of songwriting in Oasis.

I just think it was put on the wrong album. I believe AGN was written following the night Liam got His teeth knocked Out in Germany in 2002. So I think it should have ended up on DBTT. I think the song would have got far less criticism if it was released during the DBTT period.
It's not the greatest song, I think it's just an alright song. Must say I do like the guitar feedback during the first verse.
I think the problem is that the band held it back and then put it on DOYS 6 years later, which makes it look like they were struggling to fill the album and ran out of songs. For instance; why was LDSMD on DOYS bonus disc, I don't think it fits in. It belongs with the DBTT period. By holding back songs I think the band lost momentum. Same goes for STC and RM. their impact was lost by the time they were released as part of NGHFB. I think the same applies to BWTB, it should have been released as an EP in early 2006 as originally planned.
Another frustrating part of the band's history.

I think it's alright. Instrumentally it's pretty good and I don't think there's much wrong with what Liam's doing either. I can listen to it in the context of the album no problem at all. In fact I'd take it over much of what Beady Eye ever did and I'd the exact same thing about The Nature of Reality. Much worse has been written by the band. Very underrated.

The album version is just awful, but I have to say that some of the live versions with Noel doing backing vocals are pretty good.

It's an okay song (DBTT demo was better) but really would have benefitted from being a b-side.

It would be totally worthless were it not for Noel's backing vocals. As is, I don't think it's the worst thing ever - it's just downright mediocre.
