I find it incredibly, almost unbearable at times, the lowest level of mediocrity you can get to with anything. It's saving grace for me is 'Idle', but after that, the rest of the album is seen to me as very generic. The flat mixes and brickwall mastering didn't do it any favors either. Problem with Heathen Chemistry is while the singles are ok at least (even though I'm drawn further away from enjoyment of them as time goes on), everything that is non-single is very much crap. DBTT lucked out on having at least one garbage track (Meaning of Soul), while the rest range from mediocre to stale. Kind of find DBTT Oasis' middle of the road moment. Oasis proper died in 1998. While I'm not mature enough to make a statement like that, I can say from listening to the discography, their is alot of proof in it. I don't find HC, DBTT, and DOYS a trifecta of complete dirge, but just unremarkable and not memorable.

True enough, although in fairness to Oasis very few artists have a high standard set which they maintain throughout their catalogue, and those that do make it to major levels of success tend I find to have a period in their career where you can say "that was the peak" with beforehand material the build up perhaps and afterwards stepping into the "just another artist/band" routine.

Very true. Even bands like The Kinks, The Who, Rolling Stones hit periods of average to lackluster efforts by the mid 70s. Few go out on top like The Beatles or Led Zeppelin.

A lot of kids get into what many older fans deem as their 'bad' albums. Personally I hate DBTT but my kids lover It!How the fuck does a 9 year old think an album from 2005 is great?!. Food for thought.

Food for thought. I don't know any 9 year olds that like Oasis. I don't even know many people in their 30s that still like Oasis. Granted I'm American and Oasis went MIA in 1998 basically.

Not really on the MIA. A lot of the gigs were as good as back in the day. Perhaps the post BHN tunes you could level that comment at, but a lot of people at those gigs got inspired (certainly here in Scotland) despite our more 'mature' ears to the music. American audiences are very different though.

Food for thought. As a kid I used to love Elevation and Vertigo by U2, both awful songs. There is a hitfactor in DBTT, that's why people like it, or good memories.

American audiences are very different though. What I meant was Oasis went from this toast of the town kind of band by USA media (mainly MTV and VH1) to a band nobody cared about in 2000. Sure the theater gigs sold out but they played arenas on the previous tour. Had 3 radio hits. America moved on quickly in the early months of 2000.

Elevation the tour was amazing. Still one of my favorite concerts experiences. Heart stage and all. U2 was on FIRE summer of 2001.
